I am sure most of you can or have figured out how to do this design especially with twinkie's words and visuals postings. But just as a backup, here is a pdf for the pattern although the blocks are just put back together to form a scrappy circle rather that the wonderful drunkards path design that she did. I did the circle pattern several years ago for a challenge quilt for my local guild. I was not especially fond of the fabrics we had to use for the challenge but the quilt turned out great anyway and looks kind of Christmas related. I also put large buttons at the square intersections just because I had some that were the same colors as the fabrics.

This would be a great place to use a circle attachment! Love it.

cat2quilt 04-11-2012 12:14 PM

That is a stunning quilt! Beautiful colors!

maryellen2u 04-11-2012 02:03 PM

YEA! I like this. You and I are similar. I always want to try what someone else has done but I never finish it. Or I fall in love with the fabric and then can't figure out what to do with it.

Love this quilt. Will it be needle turned or raw edge?
peace

I like the motion of your quilt.

saraaev 04-11-2012 04:30 PM

that is a very nice quilt. I don't have the nerve to try all those curves. You've done a great job ! Keep sewing.....Sara

newborn 04-11-2012 05:57 PM

My honest opinion.....I love it. If you decide you just can't stand it, I'll take it with pleasure. :)

brenda21 04-11-2012 06:06 PM

I love it....gorgeous!

MimiBug123 04-11-2012 06:32 PM

Very nice! Please show it to us again when it's finished. Love it.

georgiagirlquilting 04-11-2012 06:48 PM

I think it is beautiful! I love all of the curves. Raw edge applique is so fun!

hperttula123 04-11-2012 07:00 PM

I love it!!! I see you did raw edge. That will fray up really nice after it is washed. I did one like this(only one fabric in the quarter circle) and it was great.

rainagade 04-12-2012 09:01 AM

I would do this, scrappy right?
If you do not like I will take it.

SoBuzy 04-12-2012 09:40 PM

I had to read every comment! Like a couple of others I too am fairly new at this hobby and am finding I too want to do a lot of really neat quilts that I see and unfortunately this is another one!!! NOT!!! Love it! I am sitting up with my dear aunt who is getting ready to meet her dear Saviour and this one will be made in honor of her! I will have to call it . . . Now all my family will get it as her nickname is Dot and she always signed everything Aunt . Thank you so much for this inspiration and I wish you the very best on your hospital visit. Twinkie, I will include you in my prayers for a Brief but successful visit!

WooHoo, I now have all my circles cut and matched up, (not completely sewn together) and all the large squares to put the circles on cut. I have 2/3rds of the circles sewn onto the squares and 1/2 of the queen size quilt top put together. It now measures 60" x 68" and I probably have about 40 +/- hours put into the top. I think it is going to turn out real nice.

Some of the circles don't look even and the colors aren't as bright as in person, but it is overcast and windy outside. Thanks for looking.

Had to laugh when I saw the quilt. I did this pattern for my mom but did the blocks raggy. Just love it! Only dif is mine is done...sorry.

betlinsmom 04-22-2012 07:00 AM

I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!! That quilt is BEAUTIFUL!!! What is the pattern called? You did a GREAT job!!!

twinkie 04-22-2012 07:34 AM

I haven't been able to find the pattern. If Julie in NM knows the name of it, perhaps she could share it with us. I had planned on doing a tute on it when I am done but if it has a name, I don't want to do that. And, JULIE, mine will rag when finished. It is a raw edge. My squares are 4" each. It will have 550 (approx) squares in a Queen size quilt.

Wow, just beautiful. One day I hope to be able to do a quilt this detailed and pretty.

twinkie 04-22-2012 11:44 AM

When I first say it several years ago I though it was relatively easy. However you are correct. It is detailed. But I love how it is turning out.

Wow, I love the pattern and colors.

bisseau 04-22-2012 12:33 PM

Very pretty and interesting

ljptexas 04-22-2012 12:54 PM

It is gorgeous!! Just love, love scrappy anyway. Sounds really simple to do, too. Thanks for sharing.....

LynnVT 04-22-2012 01:05 PM

Nice. Right away I start trying to figure out how you did it. Start with large wh-on-wh block, then large circle, stitch around, next smaller circle, stitch around. Do you cut off the layers from underneath? Cut in quarters, piece together. Is that right? Simple enough, but very effective and much easier than a Drunkard's Path.

LynnVT 04-22-2012 01:06 PM

Oh, duh! There's a .pdf - I didn't see that at first.

omaluvs2quilt 04-22-2012 01:15 PM

I want one too...I might have to add this one to my list! Boy is that list getting long...

Jammin' Jane 04-23-2012 02:26 PM

Very attractive! I really like it! :)

husker67 04-23-2012 02:34 PM

I like it. I've made a couple of these before.

Ms Grace 04-23-2012 04:30 PM

I think it is great!!

twinkie 04-28-2012 04:14 PM

Your analysis is correct except it is a beige on beige tone on tone block. Otherwise it is correct. However, I wouldn't call it simple as you have to be careful that the colors are not the same in one area. My quilt will be 575 squares and I am now at about 380. I can only work on two rows and then I have to put it up because I go crazy looking at it. LOL

This is my latest picture. Am now at about 440 squares and have to do about 575. I will be glad when this one is done.

I have completed two more rows on the side of this one.

Sarint 04-30-2012 06:06 PM

Very different and pretty. I would like to try one like it sometime.

earthwalker 05-01-2012 08:35 PM

Looking good Twinkie...I applaud how quickly it's going together (I am a real slowpoke at the moment:)).

Dianemarie 06-03-2012 03:09 PM

reminds me of drunkards path ........ I love scrappy !

MarLeClair 06-03-2012 03:53 PM

I really like your quilt. I could look at it for hours (well, maybe not hours) but it is interesting to look at.

Sue Fish 06-03-2012 05:02 PM

Tell us more about how it is made!

Heather Hayllar 06-04-2012 03:28 AM

Love it. Great work.
Drunkards path is not a block I would have thought to "scrap" with
Clever

dove 06-04-2012 03:34 AM
