it is sorta big, but my friend that just had a total knee replacement loves it. i made a second set of handles, so that when she is done, she can use it as a regular tote.

just lovin that fabric, had it for years, only a yard of it..never knew what to make with it! originally thought i would make a valance out of it for my kitchen, but there wasn't enough.

Love it!!!

DebsShelties 08-01-2011 01:13 PM

Love the fabric, I like your idea of making it a tad larger so your friend can use it when she no longer needs the walker.

watterstide 08-01-2011 01:19 PM

thanks!
i ended up using a purple button, i really wanted a teal one..it would of looked great with the yellow..but joanns had nothing in teal, but small buttons. they did have tons of buttons on clearance though!

Very cute fabric! Don't fill the tote or it will make the walker top heavy. How are the handles wrapped around the bar?

When DH needed a walker 2 years ago, I didn't have time to think, let alone sew. He ended up with a wire bicycle bag we clamped to his walker.

I love it. I am looking for a pattern to make a carry-all bag for a power chair. It is similar to a wheelchair but there are no handles. It does have a small pocket on the back but not large enough to be of much use. Any ideas?

handles have velcro on them..sewed on. she is using it to carry her papers and other do-dads. i told her it was big enough for a sleepover!

no handles or armrests for the sides?
you could make a lap thing, with the pockets handing over the sides of her lap.. think table topper with pockets on both ends?

some have made lap quilts, with pocket/envelope type thing at the top of it.

do you have a picture of it, or make model picture off the internet...so we could get our creative minds working?

bearisgray 08-02-2011 06:37 AM

I was wondering how you made it hang on to the walker.

Clever idea.

I also like that you put a button on it, so that it could close up some.

amma 08-02-2011 06:53 AM

I love it :D:D:D

That would probably work better. Still, I'm glad you thought of adding a closure to the bag.

Simplicity or could be McCalls has a pattern for a power chair. Goes across seat and has pockets on ends. Saw it when looking for pattern for walkeers.
