A good friend is retiring near the beginning of September so I dug into my green bag of 5-inch squares and made her a throw. Then last week when I was visiting my mom, she handed me a stack of 8-inch squares and asked me to see what I could do with them. They were Christmas flannel prints and solids. I decided to try a jumbo 4 patch. It will probably become a gift for someone once I decide who gets what for Christmas. What a useful pattern this is!

Both are lovely, using 8 inch squares, does each completed block end up being 24 inches?

Each square was 13 1/2 inches before adding the sashing.

I have been having fun with this pattern as well. I made an orange scrappy and white with 5" squares, and a black and white total scrappy with 5" squares. Then I thought....what if the squares were 6"....and now it's 8". I like them all. Fun pattern....thanks for sharing your pictures.
