Disappearing Pinwheel Arrow

I like to do a trial block to test my measurements first. I wanted it to end up at 12-1/2 inch block so I did my initial squares at 10-1/2 inches instead of the 10 squares that Jenny MSQC used. I thought a pinwheel is a pinwheel right? Nope, you must get the lights and darks in the same position if you want the finished block to look like Jenny's.
I had to pick out my center after shuffling my squares and resew it. I also discovered that the last seam sewing my rows together needed to be a scant 1/4 for my block to come out at 12-1/2. I thought this pattern with make a great block for a guy quilt in manly colours or a gender neutral for a baby quilt. Here is my block done in green scraps.

good job! Some are not as easy as they look! I'm still not sure if I "like" this block enough to do any.......

I am making one right now. I squared up the original block to 12 inches. I wanted to be able to lay the ruler at 2 inches around the 4 sides. I am making it in patriotic colors for a Veteran donation. It looks great so far. I used consistent background fabric but the reds and blues are scrappy.

It would make a spectacular scrappy quilt!

Thanks Tartan for making the actual block. I too wanted to make one after finishing the quilt that I am currently working on.
