When this happens, do you still pay the full price for the quilting? Did you let her know you were not happy?

I would not have picked a star quilting design for a quilt of stars. For me, it is too many straight lines(Unless I choose to do a custom type of quilting). For an overall design, I would have picked a pattern with more curves and a little more densely quilted.

You could remove the quilting, but it would be a lot of work, which could be put into another top instead. Since you've already bound it, I would probably leave it as-is, but find another longarmer. I'm sorry, because your top is very pretty. Probably after you've washed it and used it a while you will like it just fine.

Did you talk to her about wanting anything specific quilting done on the quilt? I don't necessarily see anything wrong with it from the pictures unless there were loose stitches or something. Just my opinion, though

I am with you on this. There is not enough quilting in the quilt. I have never "unquilted" a quilt, but I have read on this forum and others, about some who have taken every stitch out and re-quilted it, so I know it can be done. Maybe someone who has done it will respond to your post and share what they learned.

i don't think the LA did anything wrong that would warrant her giving you a refund or ripping out the stitches.

with that being said, if you don't like it rip it out.

i've skinned more quilts then i would ever say on this forum.

its not hard to skin a quilt and as long as you wash it after requilting the little needle holes will go away.

I agree-I think I'm at fault here for not telling her what I wanted in the first place. Basically I was happy with the quilt until I got it quilted. From now on I'll be more vocal in what I want. I didn't even look at it till I got it home.

I agree on both counts. "Once burned, twice shy". Pretty quilt.

We all learn, some of just have to learn the hard way.

Why not just chuck it straight on your bed and use it to death? Have breakfast in bed as often as possible, laugh cheerfully when you get tea and marmalade on it, shrug off the butter marks as being the result of being dopey in the mornings, and give it a thorough washing twice a year. Before you know it you will have worn it out, and then you will realise how fond you were of it.
