I know they're not quilts, just lowly mug rugs... but they were fun to make and I won't have time for "real" quilts until summer.

These were thrown together from some tiny scraps left over from a dress my friend made for her daughter. She's an art student at the local university, and tonight was the opening of her exhibit on Movie Monsters. I wish I had a photo of the dress, it was smashing. The fabric is from Robert Kaufman's "Pleasures and Pastimes" collection. Fun, huh?

They are super!! You have a real eye for design and balance, and that's not easy to display in such a small project, but you did it wonderfully.

who says mug rugs are "lowly"?

they're useful.
they're cute.
they're different to tacky plastic coasters.
they're different to the fancy shmancy - but fragile or heavy - coasters.

they're giftable.
they're washable.
they're creative and expressive.

little works of art.

lowly? i think not.

good job.

Those are neat--I am making pinwheel mug rugs today!

ckcowl 04-25-2011 12:43 PM

they look like quilts to me!!! just little ones :)
a quilt by definition is 3 layers held together with stitching--that's it---there are no rules that say it's not a quilt if it isn't a certain size- your mug-rugs are wonderful little quilts! don't put your work down- they are wonderful.
and lots of quilters never make a big quilt--they like little projects

yolanda 04-25-2011 12:44 PM
