Do they look like books?

I just finished this one yesterday. Not terribly happy with my quilting on it, but I suppose the important things...

Do they look like stacks of books?

Charity quilt. I'm sure someone will like it for the design (not the quilting)! I did learn from it, however.

Oh, and I did use up a few of my 2" strips...just a few, though.

It was a free pattern from Windham fabrics...

I love it, such great fabrics, and yes, it does look like books.

Tartan 11-20-2014 04:37 AM

Great quilt! You could always write or quilt in some to titles on the spines if you want it to look more like books.

heather1949 11-20-2014 04:49 AM

That is just gorgeous, simple pattern, but oh so effective, well done.

OhCanada 11-20-2014 04:49 AM

Books and quilts - two of my favorite things. I think they look like stacks of books, as Tartan suggested you could quilt some titles on a few of the spines and that will make it very obvious to all. Is the border a print?? Or are those actually tiny pieced squares?

The border is a print. This one is a charity quilt so I'll decline on the embroidery...

gabeway 11-20-2014 06:09 AM

Yep! Definitely stacked books.

ptquilts 11-20-2014 06:23 AM

very nice pattern and a good idea for strips.

dottie dodge 11-20-2014 06:31 AM

Cute quilt! I think this would be a fun quilt to use some of those salvage edges for book titles. Some of the fabrics have very fun names.

FabStripper 11-20-2014 06:31 AM

Great book quilt. It does look like books. Thank you for the link to that pattern.

Grandma Bonnie 11-20-2014 07:02 AM

I love it whether it looks like books or not. It is like the one on the pattern link you sent. Thanks for the link. I also thought selvedges would work well with this pattern. Great quilt you made and whoever gets it will love it!

jbening 11-20-2014 07:43 AM

You could use strips from selvages as titles on the books.

JuneBillie 11-20-2014 09:34 AM

A very pretty quilt.

Grandma Cindy 11-20-2014 09:48 AM

Selvages would be easy to add to the spines of a few books, scattered throughout. Saved the pattern, thank you.

Fotoula 11-20-2014 04:14 PM

Looks very good !

oksewglad 11-20-2014 08:41 PM

Another great charity quilt, JFIn... If you decide to do a similar one for a special person as suggested you could use selvage titles. Press Wonder Under or Heat N Bond to the back side and press down.

SulaBug 11-20-2014 11:54 PM

The first thing I thought when I saw the picture, was stacks of books!! :D I think it looks great & you have out done yourself. Thank you for sharing with all of us!!
:D :D:D :D

twinkie 11-21-2014 03:26 AM

I agree you should place titles on some of them. Good job.

DOTTYMO 11-21-2014 03:45 AM

Sorry love the pattern but can't see books. If they were in a stack they would be ordered by size and levelled up so they don't topple.

Not my books! Lol! Too "organized" for me. Love the quilt. Poetic license.

Very pretty !!

MargeD 11-21-2014 11:52 AM

Very nice and yes, they do look like books.

farmquilter 11-21-2014 12:03 PM

I think it would be great as an 'I Spy' quilt.

Homespun 11-21-2014 02:25 PM

Nicely done!

totally agree

redquilter 11-21-2014 04:54 PM

It's a great quilt. I love the simplicity of it. Yes, you could say they look like stacks of books. To be honest, that wouldn't have been my first thought, but no matter. I really like the quilt. Very nice of you to make it for charity.

Quiltlady330 11-22-2014 08:26 AM

I think this is a great idea...on just some of the spines not all. If you didn't want to embroider titles you can always use a pigma pen making sure it's a permanent black.
Very pretty and ambitious. :)
