I found this on Benartex's website; it's called "Festive Holiday". My question is about the damasks in the group. Would you consider them a non-holiday "basic", and would you use them in any-time-of-year quilts?

It would depend. But they could be used as a basic any time.
Yes, I would use them for anytime of the year.
Anytime, including Holiday stuff.
Sure. They seem formal and classy, but not necessarily Christmasy at all.
They're beautiful, and I would use them any time.

I like them, but consider them to be Holiday!

The Damask would be a beautiful background fabric. They read as solids. Just a little more elegant.
Yes, I certainly think you could use them any time of year. Christmas or any other time!!
That is a beautiful line. The honey/tan stripe would be on my must have list and I am sure that the damasks if taken away from the more Christmasy fabrics would be perfect tone on tones in lots of applications.
I would not think Christmas, unless they were put with other fabrics that were definitely Christmas.

LOL! This is funny for I asked myself this question just yesterday while looking to replace an outside border on a pine tree quilt I hand pieced many years ago. I never finished it because I hated the plaid I used. (it was a copy of what the designer used).
I am changing it out as soon as I can get to it so this UFO can come out of the closet. It is the green damask in the mid range from the Mi Liss collection at Hancock Fabrics. I like her fabrics. |
I like them! They could be Christmas but they don't "scream" Christmas. But...they'll look great on other creations as well. :-P
