I'm helping to document some old quilts at our local historical society. I recognized many patterns, or they were named in the existing documentation, but this is one I don't know. Do you?

QuiltnNan 06-30-2011 02:59 PM

Marcia_PA 06-30-2011 03:16 PM

Perhaps it's an original design??

blueangel 06-30-2011 03:17 PM

Haven't a clue.

Nettie Phillips 06-30-2011 03:20 PM

Pretty but I don't know what the pattern is.

Cyn 06-30-2011 03:38 PM

Different for sure!

Kat Sews 06-30-2011 03:49 PM

There are 2 blocks in this. I don't know the name of either.

thimblebug6000 06-30-2011 04:03 PM

If you have the quilt, is it possible for you to figure out exactly where the block is in the quilt & post just that?

RedGarnet222 06-30-2011 04:10 PM

The one block looks like the "T" block. But, I can't tell you this setting at all. Looks very south west and almost like the sun. Don't you think? A road to some where??

I think I found it! I don't have the quilt, but I'll post a clipped version of the block. Compare it to the first block near the bottom under "Many T Designs" at this website http://quilthistorytidbits--oldnewly...d-t-quilts.php

EasyPeezy 06-30-2011 04:15 PM

I think that's the one. You have to play with the placement to get it like yours. Hope this helps. :)

I don't have a clue.

cctx. 06-30-2011 07:52 PM

It looks like the letter "T" to me, but in a variation.

Great link, very interesting to read along.
Thanks for sharing your research.

earthwalker 06-30-2011 08:07 PM

Yes, very interesting link. Thanks for sharing.

I have "The New Quilting and Patchwork Dictionary" by Rhoda Ochser Goldberg (1988). This is referred to on page 139 as the "Four T Square" (9 patch).

Carron 06-30-2011 08:08 PM

Makes for a wonderful quilt.

Rose L 06-30-2011 08:14 PM

Two color quilts are always so striking! Loved seeing this one.
