Great quilt but need to know the name of the pattern.

LoriEl 10-18-2011 10:11 AM

I haven't a clue but it looks extremely hard!

gollytwo 10-18-2011 10:11 AM

It looks to me more like something designed on EQ rather than an available pattern

MissSandra 10-18-2011 10:12 AM

I don't know it never seen it but wow imagine all the intricate work

Actually it is a very old quilt, done with templates created by the quilter. I believe the original is in the Netherlands. I could see doing it with fusible but not piecing!! A friend is looking for the name of the quilt pattern, if there even is a name!

KyKat 10-18-2011 10:19 AM

Wow, what a maze. What size is that quilt?

QuiltnNan 10-18-2011 11:14 AM

instead of double wedding ring, it looks like a bazillion wedding ring LOL

Grandma58 10-18-2011 11:32 AM

It looks more like a piece of art then a quilt from a pattern. It is wonderful!

lol

I was thinking "the road to no-where"

CloverPatch 10-18-2011 11:42 AM

It is called “aneurism in the making”,
also known as the:
“quilter killer”,
“oh my! What was I thinking?”
and
“No. I don’t know why the machine flew through the window” ;-)

Yes interesting pattern in deed.
;-)

Looks like a Celtic knot design. (maybe something from the Book Of Kells?) I don't know the pattern name but I would name it Quilter's Headache!

cathyvv 10-18-2011 12:09 PM

It's definitely past my grade level!

lindy 10-18-2011 12:10 PM

Broken Circles comes to mind.

wesing 10-18-2011 02:00 PM

I hope you can find something on this pattern, because it tells a beautiful story to me. Every circle is distinct, bu they are all nested into one another like a family or a community. I'm going to venture a guess that it is some type of love knot or family ties type of name.

It should be called Wow! It does have a very celtic feeling too it. It reminds me of a hula hoop party -- all those big spinning circles. Good luck with finding a pattern name.

quilter68 10-18-2011 02:27 PM

I think it is 'A make it up as you go" pattern. Beautiful and way above my abilities.

kathyd 10-18-2011 02:29 PM

GOOD QUESTION. Doesn't look like a weekend project!

Glassquilt 10-18-2011 05:06 PM

That is fantastic! The eyes just keep moving. The interlocking pattern is not readily apparent - will require study.

debcavan 10-18-2011 05:08 PM

That is an awesome quilt. I have never seen anything like it.

KerryK 10-18-2011 07:51 PM

I don't know the name; I just know I don't want to do it!

Becca Bear 10-18-2011 08:33 PM

I don't know the name of the pattern, but the quilt is very interesting and looks complicated. Great work by whoever completed this quilt!

nanabirdmo 10-19-2011 06:18 AM

Clover Patch, LOL you took the words right out of my mouth. Beautiful but I'm a little frightened by it.

stitchinbee 10-19-2011 06:25 AM

not sure, but it is definitely interesting. :)

lodad 10-19-2011 06:30 AM

Round like a circle in a spirial, like a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning in an ever spinning real.

Anyone remember that song from the 70's?

Very interesting piece of work.
Lowell ;)

humbird 10-19-2011 06:33 AM

Do you have any idea how large this quilt is? It almost looks like you start out with a hexagon and add on to that in some fashion. Not something I would attempt, but it sure is lovely!

nancia 10-19-2011 10:47 AM

it's amazing! where's the beginning? or the end? i would love to know how it is made!

Just heard it on the radio - how weird is that?

nancia 10-19-2011 11:57 AM

thank you , thomas crowne, for having an affair! i loved the original with steve mcqueen and faye dunaway! wonder if either quilted?

thimblebug6000 10-22-2011 07:44 AM

I found an interesting Celtic site http://scarlettrose.com/quilters.html on the quilters 1 page there are a couple that could be an inspiration for the design of your quilt.
