I found this antique quilt at a small antique store. It's in pretty bad shape and not the best picture either for that matter. I love the pattern and would like to make one like it...the easy way I think. This one is all hand done with the white pieces set in. I love the way they used the small nine patch with the star. Don't give up on me...I've "lost" the pic but will find it and post asap! Thanks.

Have no idea of the pattern, but it is very pretty and I bet you could trace over the parts and make your own templetes.
|
It appears to me that there are three different blocks involved in this quilt.
|
You can simplify the pattern by paper piecing the two star blocks

I don't know the name of the pattern, but I worked it up on EQ
These are templates for all 3 blocks in the quilt. They are 6 inch blocks (finished) |
that is a really pretty quilt, are u able to save it? Or will it be a cutter quilt?
|
Very pretty I love all the colors. It would be an interesting quilt to make. What a great find.

Thanks amma. That was very nice of you to figure it out on EQ for us... It's a very cute quilt

I can't help you with the pattern but that is a beautiful quilt. What a find. I'm glad it has a good home now.

I'm soooooo curious about how this one was constructed...Can't help you with a name...I'm noticing from the photo that the diamonds are not pieced where they cross over to the next color block, does that make sense?
I may not be explaining what I'm seeing...I can't help but wonder if they didn't applique part of that. Please be kind enough to post a couple more photos of close ups...or just re examine and let me know what you think they did to prevent seaming the diamonds...I just can't imagine anyone taking the time to match the prints so well that a seam didn't show, and then be so obviously careless with the matching of the points in the intersections of the four diamonds...oops...hope that didn't sound too critical...I so admire the old country quilts and the women who worked with what they had...they could find a way to make the most of the least and their ability to create beauty when function was the primary goal will never cease to amaze me! Thanks so much for caring for this old quilt and for sharing the photo with us! |
The 3 downloads above the picture are the templates
You are welcome, but EQ does all of the work LOL I love the program, it comes in handy multiple times a week :D:D:D |
I love it. I have never seen it before either. Amma, you did a great job mocking it up.
