the dog's favorite quilt

It got cold in Arizona so I made this out of scraps laying around in one day because I needed a lap quilt. I have to take it to the bedroom with me every night because my dog slips it through the puppy door and uses it outside.

roadrunr 11-30-2011 08:17 AM

It sure is a pretty quilt, no wonder your dog likes it!

sandybeach 11-30-2011 08:21 AM

Well it does get cold outside too.

MomtoBostonTerriers 11-30-2011 08:24 AM

ArizonaKAT,

I say give the quilt to the dog! After all, dogs are people, too. You can't blame the dog for loving this quilt -- maybe it's your scent on it that attracts him, so maybe he wants to admire your workmanship up close for long periods while he has his eyes closed. Either way, it's nice to be appreciated, isn't it?

JeannieT 11-30-2011 08:26 AM

poor doggie! he's trying to tell you he wants his own quilt!

hyper violet 11-30-2011 08:27 AM

love the colors

ArizonaKAT 11-30-2011 08:34 AM

she know she's done wrong. In the morning when I wake up and find it gone, she heads for the puppy door in a hurry!

wolph33 11-30-2011 08:37 AM

that is so funny

my dogs love all the quilts we have-they think I make them for them.Glad I do not have a doggie door.I use denim to make beds for dogs in shelters-nice and sturdy.

valleyquiltermo 11-30-2011 08:45 AM

Ok mama it's time for the dog to get it's own quilt. Mine all have their own quilts. Beautiful quilt you can't fault your dog for having good taste. It choose you for it's mommy. So moma Santa needs to see to it doggie gets a quilt.

luvstoquilt 11-30-2011 08:53 AM

Make that pooch a quilt! My Peach has a quilt and he loves it as well as every other piece of fabric he can curl up on.

fabrichore 11-30-2011 09:01 AM

thats too funny, your dog has claimed it for her/his own...

quiltsRfun 11-30-2011 09:39 AM

Pretty quilt. Guess you'll have to make one for the dog. :)

catladyquilts 11-30-2011 10:43 AM

I say "good doggie." She has good taste and takes better care of it than my dog would. Sewed up a bunch of strips I cut from old jeans, sandwiched an old blanket in the middle, and thought that it would be durable. Our pooch is part black lab & golden retriever and still wants to chew things once in a while. You guessed... she chewed it apart a couple of days ago. I was bummed.

Kathy T. 11-30-2011 05:30 PM

Your dog has excellent taste in quilts!

ChrisB 11-30-2011 05:35 PM

Puppies do need quilts too. Ours love quilts.

earthwalker 11-30-2011 05:35 PM

It's lovely....I would be a bit cross about it being dragged outside....Perhaps the pooch needs a smaller copy of yours:)

abdconsultant 11-30-2011 05:38 PM

Lucky Dog, I need to do my dogs some quilts, that is nice!

CajunQuilter2 11-30-2011 05:41 PM

yea mom, let her have her own quilt.......:o

red-warrior 11-30-2011 05:42 PM

Very nice quilt!

lfletcher 12-01-2011 05:23 AM

That is one funny story. We're dog people and have several stories about doggie doors. My favorite is when my son was 2 years old (a while back) and he followed the dogs out the doggie door. I had a few minutes of panic before I found him.

toadmomma 12-01-2011 05:26 AM

Pretty quilt now make one for your loyal friend.

Jingle 12-01-2011 08:51 AM

Very pretty, maybe the dog is trying to tell you it is too cold outside for him.

CarrieC 12-01-2011 09:00 AM

Caruso has quilts (yes plural) one downstairs in front of the fireplace and one in our room. And like Luvstoquilt - he loves any fabric that he can curl up on.

Too cute! My daughter's dog has 2 quilts I made...One was a practice FMQ piece, and the other is a nicely pieced baby quilt that I couldn't get the markings off of. He loves them both and arranges them just the way he likes before he lays down to nap on them.

sweet 03-05-2012 07:55 AM

I'm afraid that you are no longer the owner of that precious quilt. You are now the caretaker/washer. :)

Halo 03-05-2012 10:26 AM

Sounds like your furbaby has put claim to it with good reason. It is a very nice quilt. You need to make him his own quilt or let him have this one & make you a new one.

Floralfab 03-05-2012 12:41 PM

He must love that quilt! What a cute story. Thanks for sharing.

jackied 03-05-2012 01:08 PM

I agree with ArizonaKat, he loves that quilt and maybe because of your scent. lol Does he have his own quilt?
