These are some of the 16 Dolly Quilts that I have made for our church bazaar in November. They are quick and easy, AND I may have about 20 or more by the time the sale gets here.

Very cute! I bet they are fun to whip out!
|
Ohhh those are way cute!!! Church bazaars are always soo much fun to go to!! Are you raising funds for anything specific?
|
They sure are. There are only 80 little squares in each one and if I do stack and whack it goes very fast. I hand quilted 6 and machine quilted some others. The hand quilting takes about 7 hours. The machine takes about 10 minutes. Soooooooooo nice.

I do not know how the money will be used, but I am proud to help so that our church can maybe do something nice for someone in town who may need it.

Anne, such a wonderful and selfless thing you're doing!! And the dolly quilts are just adorable!
|
Thanks Lisa. I am hopeful that I can get a couple of photos of the kids that the people may buy them for. I have a collection of pictures of the quilts I have made and the people I have given them to. I am already thinking of how I want to display them. I plan to get a little doll, and maybe Jim can make a little wooden bed. I will put one quilt over the doll. AND I want to make a sign that says "Made in the USA. No Lead!!" (a reference to the toys that are coming out of China.)

Those are so cute..I'mm gonna have to try my hand at that..."no lead is cute" good luck with your sale!
|
Very adorable!! :)

cute, cute!

You have very nice work for your Church sale. How did you determin how big to make the dolly quilts?
I have a baby quilt, picked up a dolly and have been wondering how big I need to make for the 8 in high baby doll. Thought the Big sis could cover her new "baby" as mommy covers her baby sister. These are so nice, I wonder if you get some who will just like to have a small quilt on the wall? Chairjogger (Ellen) |
Those are all cute

Very cute! They're all adorable. I love making small quilts. I get to practice techniques and it doesn't take much time or fabric!
|
Thanks everyone. I have enjoyed them tremendously. The first four or five, I made 12 x 15 inches or so, and when I showed them to some other ladies who quilt, they thought they were cute and everything, but one lady made mention that her grand daughter's doll would not fit under them and so I have made all the rest 16 1/2 x 20 allowing for a bit larger doll to lay under them. The great thing, as with most quilts that utilize squares, is that you can make the squares any size you like. I made mine 2 1/2 inches. It takes very little fabric. They are so easy to handle. I have machine quilted quite a few. It goes so fast I think I shall have many more done by November.
Note to gcathie: When you get some made, you KNOW that I will want to see pictures...... Note to Chairjogger: That is possible. Maybe someone will want me to make them a quilt and I could make a few dollars.... Anne |
Those are so adorable. I love the colors you used. That is very sweet of you to do that for your church.
|
My sister still has the dolly quilt my grandma made her some 40 years ago. It was out of purple and lavender flannel. Gives me an idea for our church bazaar. thanks for posting
|
They sure are pretty, but I have a dumb question; what is a dolly quilt? Is it a quilt for dolls?
|
What adorable little quilts. I know your church will appreciate your donation-they will make a lot of money from all of your efforts!
|
Those are cute, people always buy something for the kids :D :D
|
Thanks. I am glad to inspire someone else. I hope you are able to make several for your church also.
To sewnsewer2: Yes they are for little girls to play with their dolls. I hope they bring in some dough for our little church. Anne |
Good idea about them as samples !!! And market them as Dolly quilts. I have seen the small ones at shows. I think the first size is what I have seen.. Barbie size..
Great marketing !! Good for you ! Chairjogger (Ellen) |
I sure wish you lived near me. I am chairperson of our craft bazaar and would love to have working for our church
Cute idea on the show..... Sometimes that is the hardest ideal to work on. What priceing do you think???? Sal |
Too pretty ! !
|
Thanks Sally,
I am thinking about $4.50 for the small ones and $5.50 for the larger. I am pretty sure we could not get much more than that. Even though they are worth more, considering the time and material, but the folks around here do not have an abundance of money. I made a lovely lap quilt last year. The time I spent on the thing, it was worth about $350.00. I put a price of $90.00 and it did not sell. The bazaar ladies marked it down to $60.00 and it still did not sell. That hurt. So this year I am going with the little ones. Anne |
What fun!! Fun for you to make, for the little person who gets to cover his/her doll, and for the doll. :D
|
Thanks, I thought they were for dolls, but wasn't sure. They sure are pretty!
|
I understand that. I have been making quilts for church auction. last year 2- queens, they could bearly draw out $200 each.
did Hole in Barn door and jewel Box. Those have lots of work. I know how you feel. I am going to make rag bag purses and small wall hangings. See how that goes. Our church does not have $$$ either |
Our quilts are auctioned at the church fall festival. A few times they have gone for 600 but that is when out of town people are there. If it is local lucky to get 200.
|
Anne - they are too cute! Hope you DO get some business out of them for yourself! You do such lovely work. By the by - think you should stick to machine quilting - 7 hours versus 10 minutes ???? hmm let me think this over???? LOL
|
nice
you will make some little girls happy |
Cute as can be, great job and thank you for sharing
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
