I had this lady friend call me the other day, and said she had some more stuff from her sewing room, I could have. She called me a couple time. The 1st time, was material, and pattern, and a serger. The serger, I gave away. Was told it was a little old to repair, if needed. This time she gave me some more patterns, material, and 2 quilts. 2 grandmothers flower gardens. 1 has to be fixed--coffee stain, and eventually taken a part to make it complete. The other 1 needs 3 more 1/2 grdmother flowers. Here are a couple pictures. She said she made these 20 year's ago. Take care, and WELCOME to the new member's. BOTH quilt's was done by hand. This will be a real test for me to sew 3 more 1/2 section to this quilt. Don-isewman

Gorgeous quilts! Have fun working on them! Nice lady...

What a nice lady she must be! I know you will enjoy working on those quilts...1 of the 1st quilts I ever tackled on my own, was the Grandmother's Flower Garden...it was hand-pieced by my grandma and great-grandma...of course it was 40+ years old when I inherited it...I ended up tying it instead of quilting it...I could never have gotten it straight and lined up enough for regular quilting...actually, the tied look works pretty well on it...I gave it to my Mom, so she has a quilt worked on by 3 important gals in her life...By the way, I used thread that is usually used to crochet doilies to tie it...I had never tied a quilt, so kinda had to "wing it"...lol...
Have fun with your quilts! K |
