I have some egyptian print material, a friend gave me. I'm going to make a quilt, with the egyptian print, as the whole panel. What I would like is, if anyone, will help me find a color, I would like to buy. Or any web sight material/shop/business's, I can check out. I'll post a picture, of 2 of the egyptian face's of the material. The other ? I have is what can I do for the border. I have a picture of 6 color(maybe 5 colors) I will use. Any suggestion's I will appreciate. Don-isewman

I love the fabrics, are you going to through in the fushia color anywhere? for me I would have to add a touch of that some where, maybe the binding or a very thin very thin strip around the quilt.. as one of the borders...Also I think I saw a hint of green in there.. I did one simular.. i did put a solid small border then I did strips different lengths and sizes sewed them together like a frame around it.. or flying geese would look good too.

Some of the green would work and maybe a little of the fushia. I have been happy with http://www.fabric.com prices, fabric and customer service. Keep us posted

Wonderful fabric. i like your choices of border fabric.

amma 04-10-2011 12:49 PM

I really love your focal fabric and the others you chose to go with it.
IMHO the purple pops out enough on it's own. I love how you are drawing out the blue though. And it will play very nicely with the other colors in the border :D:D:D

i think the fuchsia would look stunning with the brown and beige.

For sure add some fuchsia and green to compliment those colors in your fabric. IMHO

So glad to see you are going to keep the panel intact. I followed your initial post to see what happened. I agree with working some of the fuschia in as a border and really like the other colors you have chosen.

Pretty fabric...

I agree with Amma. You appear to have chosen mostly the brown and beige tones for your borders and just that bit of blue will be just right. Blue and brown play so nicely together and I think just the touch of fuscia in the focus fabric itself is enough.

I agree with the others ... pick up all the colours that are in the panel. All the shades of the tans/browns, and it looks like you could pick out a couple of each of the turquoise, green, fuschia. And any others we're not seeing here in the online pic.

My first thought was a piano key border ... then I thought ... perhaps emulate the pattern in the panel. In the first close up, there's a zig-zag pattern in the brown, green, turquoise and fuschia. What about using it?

Or for another pattern to pick up on, look at the bottom of the same pick to the left under the man there's a pattern in brown outline and white (or is it tan?) that you could work up for a border. Same pattern is on the second close up in browns and I agree with the others ... pick up all the colours that are in the panel. That'll be a very interesting project and you should have fun creating it!

Not sure how far Hills is from where you are but there is a new shop there called Inspirations. They seemed to have some really nice fabs that might go with your egyptian panel. Might be something for you to check on if you are able. Please post pics of what you decide on. :)

The fabric is awesome.

pjustice63 04-11-2011 03:09 AM

You need a zinger. Either fuchsia or turquoise. Doesn't have to be much.

pocoellie 04-11-2011 04:05 AM

Personally, I like the fushia, I think it would really make it pop.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-11-2011 04:39 AM

The only color I'm not crazy about is the middle right one (brown)
Love your others. I like the idea of a bit of fuchsia too.

Juliebelle 04-11-2011 08:25 AM

I think green and the purple would be good

kateyb 04-12-2011 03:56 AM

I may have a green and purple you could use. PM me and I'll try to get pics of the fabrics.

PunkQuilter 04-12-2011 04:28 AM

The purple and the blue really bring the print to life....I saw your focal fabric and the first thing that came to my mind was one block wonder. Great fabric anyway.

asmmauer 04-12-2011 04:43 AM

I love your fabric choices but would also include fuchsia and green maybe in corner of borders or several different places as triangles representing pyramids on the border.www.quiltingbythebay.com is one of my favorite shops they have beautiful fabric. Can't wait to see this one done it will be fantastic.

Don, here are some fabrics I have. If you would like them PM me. The green is a solid 42" x 1 1/2 yards and prewashed. The purple is 45" x 1 yard. It has very small polka dots in it.

Hope these show up OK
