Donated Fabric

Well I went to the "new" Senior Center and was looking at the quilts that were hanging on the wall waiting their turn to be brought down for quilting. Each was on the frame. Nice large room as the quilters had a California King and what she called a California Queen, 2 Twin and 4 baby/throw quilts set up and ladies were quilting on each. Several ladies were talking about some fabric that was going to the trash bin at exactly 5pm that day. NOT!!!! I asked if I could look at those pieces as I thought they would be cut after being used for a quilt or two. WRONG. The main piece is a 36wide by over 20feet long. When I measured it on my sewing room (dining room 5foot long) table It fit on the table folded lengthwise 4 times and I had several inches left over. This will go for clothing first for girls 1T to 3T. Should have enough for several dresses those sizes. These will go to Goodwill Christmas Give Away. There were also 14 size (3 inches each side-full and 12 halves and 2 quarter) miniature Grandmother's Flower Garden--pre-printed; 1 Dresden Plate again preprinted with a shadow heart and then a flowered fabric heart. This one may actually be called something else as I, personally, have never seen one with the heart motif. All I have ever seen is ones with the center circle. Whoever cut the Flower Garden blocks apart did a good job of cutting past the 4th round of hexies. All of these are plain center. Flower 2nd round. Plain 3rd round and 5-point star / flower.

I tried to add the pictures but my laptop is not allowing me to adjust the size--it gets stubborn at times.

Don't know if this would be falling off the wagon of Fabric Moratorium 2025. Either way I HAVE new funzies.

I’m always happy to receive unwanted fabrics. I’m old school and don’t like anything to go to waste. I can make something out of it. If not quilts for foster kids or veterans, then small projects that I give away at reunions or bus trips for my niece. The aprons I recently made in Chat post were from unwanted fabrics. I’m glad you were at the right place, at the right time. It all sounds interesting and wish you could have included pictures.

Is it a Windows or Mac laptop. I have Windows 11 laptop that I got last summer. I had to really look around to try to figure out how to resize photos. Actually, I still have to look around a bit to see where it is to resize. And then it really isn't obvious to save it with a different name or sometimes I don't know where the computer saves it.

OurWorkbench--It's a HP windows. I love the HP's but windows 11 gives me troubles all the time.

toogie--I agree as I will collect any fabric that I can use for sewing before I let it get thrown away. There is always something I can make out of it. I just can not see any fabric that is useable get tossed into the trash. If Momma would have been there she would have grabbed it and never let it go.

One thing I see I did not mention is that the fabric was measured after the hot water wash (with shout color catchers to prevent fading) and dried in a hot dryer. So it might have been even longer when I brought it home. All my cotton goes thru the hot water wash before I use it so I know it has already shrunk if it is going to do so. I do not believe in cold water for cotton fabrics as it is still able to shrink. I just use the Shout Color Catchers to prevent fading. They work wonderfully. I even reuse them as they work until they almost turn black.

....

When you click on the image, it should open in "Photos" and look like this on the top left of the window.

If you click on the three dots (as indicated by the yellow arrow), it should drop down to show what to click on to resize the photo (as indicated by the red arrow). You can change the amount of reducing you want, but it looks like the default should bring it down close to the right size. It will show how big the resulting file will be. As long as it is less then 2MB, you should be able to post it on QB. Then you will need to click on Save
