Cheryl, I have no idea. My friends dump their scraps here and I'm sure it's one of theirs. All the scraps are in one pin and I just pick a bunch. I would do a google search on parot fabric.....

I put my hand on the shade with the full sun on it and it was just a bit warm. I put my hand behind it and it was hot. So the shade does keep the heat out quite a bit. Now that I know that. Next time I would use the thickest batting.

I have been doing this for years. For my windows and doors. In the summer it keeps out the heat and in the winter it keeps in the warmth.

Love the beautiful stained glass effect when the light comes thru! Very nice.

I did wonder how to make a window shade. Your idea is really simple and I like it. Are there other types of window shades we can make?

A cool way to beat the heat!

Joy, I just saw your post. Yes, there is another way.On this one , I cut most of the old shade off and sewed the quilted shade on it.

Since the shade is now thicker, it will only roll up a little bit, so now I have the idea to but one of those rods with the fancy balls on the ends and clip the shade to the rings on the rod and that will look much better and I can slide the shade to the side when the sun goes away.

I finished these just in time, it 98 degrees right now or feels like it and it's cool by the window. I am not getting the stain glass effect on the window shade because I used thicker batting but I don't mind at all.....

Love the way you used your scraps. I have a metal front door with a window in the top half, so I bought a magnetic rod and attached it to the door. I have several wall hangings with loops instead of a sleeve to use on this door. I change for holidays, season, etc.
