Double sided T-Shirt quilt
3 Attachment(s)
I was commissioned to make this T-Shirt/Memory quilt. My customer had a lot of T-shirts with all different size imprints so I did the shadow box layout on the front and a simple sash with cornerstone layout on the back.
It was quilted on my LA using the Panto "Romanesque" by Willow leaf designs. I used glide thread in a deep purple color called Raven and an 80/20 batting. I thought this T-shirt was so cool. It is called "The Devil Fishing" and is from House of Blues in New Orleans. Dangling as bait on his fishing line is money, drugs, gambling, etc. It was obvious a local artist must have come up with the design. It was a well worn T. Obviously one of her DH's favorites. And here is the back, much simpler design and a bit easier on the eye because it isn't so busy (sorry it is sideways, I turned it in my viewing program but it must not have saved the change). I love the quilt. I have started collecting my step daughters high school t shirts to make a quilt for graduation. great job.

Such a nice quilt. I have never seen a two-sided T-shirt quilt before.

That is a very cool quilt, and I bet your customer will be thrilled to bits! Awesome job.
What is "glide" thread? Is that what allowed you to quilt right through the printed parts of the T's? I don't think my equipment could cope with two layers of T's - did you use stabilizer? My poor little DSM has enough trouble with one layer! Alison |
Great Job!!!

Fantastic job! Love t -shirt quilts! Great layout on front!
|
It is a fantabulous quilt - and it gives me an idea of how to make my d-in-l's nieces quilt for graduation - have to get at it as soon as the tree comes down - but with different sized t-shirt designs, the mis-matched ones can go on one side with the same sized ones on the other - thank you for the great idea - had wondered how this might work - and it came out beautiful with yours....

You did a great job on a very difficult project! She will be thrilled!

Great job on your shadowbox T-Shirt quilt. I hope that they will enjoy it for many years to come.
I recently finished making my 51st T-Shirt quilt & so far all of my customers have loved the ones I have made for them. I give them the choice of 6 different layouts with the shadowbox layout being one of them. Keep up the good work. Mary C Naperville, IL |

I have been commissioned to make a T-shirt quilt, but I don't know how to charge for it. So far the information I have is they have about 25 T-shirts (front & back) and she wants it to be double size. I have made many other quilts but his will be my first T-shirt quilt. Thanks for you replies!
