Wow! Best double chain I`ve ever seen. You should be very proud. Bessie Stephenville NL

The back is indeed every bit as beautiful as the front, so you essentially look like you have two quilts there.

Rusty's Mama 10-18-2010 07:13 PM

This double wedding ring reminds me of the one I had and wore out using. The intersections were yellow and green, and the rest was all done with scraps. Loved that quilt. It is still a pattern I think I want to make sometime.

iltoaz 10-19-2010 11:01 AM

Well Done!! The quilt is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

jdavis 10-19-2010 11:06 AM

Now that's just beautiful! I've never seen a scrappy DWR; and yours is so nicely done; also, the quilting just suits it so perfectly!

From your pics, I would never have known that you had all those problems, it looks great to me.

marla 10-20-2010 04:31 PM

You did a beautiful job. Love the quilting! Iwould not have known to use double batting. And then to use a combo of poly and cotton.
How did you know to do that?
marla

Oh my , this is beautiful! What a good job you did on it. I would never have thought of using two different battings on it. Is it really heavy? Love the quilting designs. Jan

It's a little heavy because it's so large - 118" x 94". But not overly so. The cotton was a low loft Legacy batting and the poly was low loft Microsafe from Joanns. So together it gives a nice loft -not flat like a traditional quilt, but not puffy like some were in the 80s. The cotton will shrink at a slightly larger rate than the poly, so it should help fill in the quilting and extra fullness of the blocks - almost like a mock trapunto effect on the feathers.

I read on another site - mqresource.com - in one of the forums there that some of them do a double batting for their show quilts. I had been wanting to try it, and when I got this quilt I thought it might help disguise the problems this quilt presented. The owner is gung-ho with whatever I want to do and I always give her a discount on her quilts (loyal customer, etc.). Anyway, I'll be doing the double batting again in the future. I think it really added something to the quilting.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I really appreciate it!! You guys are the best here!!!

No, I quilted it on a longarm (Voyager 17). Thanks! I quilted several on my domestic sewing machine prior to getting my frame and longarm in March.
