I am so pleased with it. I was going to just update my original thread but was too excited to figure out how.
I was surprised how fast it went together. I think hand sewing the binding on took the longest to do. And boy did my hands hurt, lots and lots of tiny stitches. I took lots of pictures so I can document my projects. I quilted it with a straight diagonal across the focus squares and then SID in between, (sorta) the black and white squares and around the borders. I need lots more practice with SID. I wish they would take pictures of the quilts we send with the kids they are given to. that would be so cool. I know they are too busy and that is not realistic, but it would be fun. Ok, on to the next project. After I clean up my mess of course. |
Oh, one more thing. I still need to sew the label on and name the quilt. Do you all embroider your name and the quilt name on or do it another way? Also any ideas for a name for the quilt?
|
You mentioned that you hand sewed the binding. I think they want it machine sewn. Check their site, if so just go over it with the machine.

It can be hand tacked down on the back as long as the stitches are close together. They were ok with the ones I did that way.
The quilt looks good!! |
Cute quilt!!!

Really cute quilt. Love the dalmations and all the paw prints.
How about "Puppy Paws"? Never named a quilt before! But I need to ask, what is a Downy Quilt? I am a newbie. |
So cute and really bright!

They then distribute them to children in hospitals around the country. Many cities have local ppl that are affiliated and can see that your quilts are given to local kids. Anyway, I asked for one, finished it, and made an extra because it was so fun and easy to do. I just have to quilt them next week! |
cute quilt

I love your quilt & you did a great job. I know here in this area they won't take pictures of the kids because of privacy matters. What a world we live in these days. You have to love it.

I am a newbie. http://www.quiltsforkids.org/ You just send an email and they mail out all the fabric and pattern to complete the quilt. All you have to do is provide the batting. It's a GREAT project. I have my quilt started and they send you nice, cute fabrics in the kit. And it's so easy and fast. |
Oh, for a name, how about "Spots and Barks"....
The quilt came out soooooo cute!! |
Thank you ToucanSam and EllaBud for the explanation and the link. I just started quilting, but love the idea. If they don't expect perfection, I will send for a kit.
I love the concept. "Spots and Barks" is a cute name. |
My pleasure! Enjoy making your Downey quilt. I think that you'll really enjoy it.
