Hello, ladies and gents.

I was originally going to put sashing between all of my blocks. I laid it out in the kitchen floor, and somewhat like the choppy look that's left by only having sporadic navy strips.

What do you think? Leave it as-is for something different or go forward with the sashing as originally planned?

 I did notice the block that I have turned the wrong direction, by the way...and please forgive my poor MS Paint skills.

Thanks in advance.

I like the one with sashing also-it really makes your blocks and colors pop. Beautiful quilt.

pinklissamel 02-10-2010 07:04 PM

Very pretty quilt. I like the original idea best but whatever you go with, it'll look great!! :D

Arizona Sunrises 02-10-2010 07:12 PM

That's what I thought the response would be, but I was second guessing myself.

Thanks everyone.

SASHING!!!!!!!!!!!

granny-jean 02-10-2010 07:17 PM

I like it with the sashing. Your choice of colors are beautiful.

quilter girl 02-10-2010 07:49 PM

I like it - how big were your blocks before you cut them up?

judee0624 02-10-2010 07:57 PM

Those colors are amazing. Both look good to me. It is up to you. The sashing adds a pop to the colors.

The 9 patches were 19" square, including the navy between the blocks.

Mamaskeeto 02-10-2010 08:08 PM

I vote for sashing, makes the blocks pop more.

Grandma Cindy 02-10-2010 08:21 PM

I love the variety in the fabric and without the sashing...

mrspete 02-10-2010 08:43 PM

it is a dizzy quilt and one that really shows work. It is so pretty. I can't see any faults, like I said, it is dizzy-ing. And I LIKE IT

LucyInTheSky 02-10-2010 09:51 PM

I like the sashing. It gives it more of a almost window stained glass type effect

butterflywing 02-10-2010 09:58 PM

i like it better with no sashing. more original that way. aren't you sorry you asked? get 20 quilters, get 20 opinions.

skpkatydid 02-10-2010 10:10 PM

I thought this too! :-D :-D :-D

MadQuilter 02-11-2010 12:56 AM

Sashing makes it look very busy IMHO -still pretty though. I just like no sashing better.

gaigai 02-11-2010 01:24 AM

I like the sashing too, and agree it gives it a stained glass look. But, opinions are like, er,... NOSES! Everyone has one! LOL. It's what you like that really counts. There is no right or wrong. Good luck and be sure and post a pic of the finished product. It's looking good!

Lizzydripping 02-11-2010 02:04 AM

Sashing I think

mrspete 02-11-2010 03:42 AM

btw, sashing makes it nice, like one quilter said, 'stained glass'

ranger 02-11-2010 04:38 AM

My vote is for sashing.

tlrnhi 02-11-2010 04:59 AM

Very nice!
I vote sashing!

Dorothy of Kansas 02-11-2010 05:03 AM

I like it both ways!!! No help, huh!! lol

pocoellie 02-11-2010 05:37 AM

I like it with the sashing also. Love the fabrics.

Grandma Cindy 02-11-2010 06:38 AM

ok - what size were the original nine patch individual squares and what width are the navy blue strips. It is a great change up on the D9P. Everyone is so inspiring..........

grammy Dwynn 02-11-2010 06:42 AM

I love it! Both ways! lol not to helpful am I

paintedquilt 02-11-2010 06:50 AM

I like #1 the best

dkabasketlady 02-11-2010 06:53 AM

I like it both ways, no help here! Is the quilt for you and which way do you really like it? Or is it for someone else and they know about it, then ask them what they like.
Both will be GORGEOUS!!!

Ducky 02-11-2010 06:59 AM

Either way is going to be really nice, but I love the look with the sashing the best. I know it's more work.

ebony 02-11-2010 08:32 AM

beautiful! i would go without sashing.

Arizona Sunrises 02-11-2010 09:11 AM

I've decided that this is going to make two separate baby quilts/wall hangings instead of the originally planned throw. One w/o the sashing. One with.

I've never kept any of my completed projects, and this probably will be no different since nothing in it even remotely matches my home decor palette. However, of the few things I've done so far, I really, really like this.

Honey 02-11-2010 09:14 AM

I like it with the sashing because it defines the blocks more. Beautiful quilt!

The finished single block was slightly over 5 1/4" and the finished strip was just over 1".

:) That being said, this is an easy one to adjust if you prefer different dimensions. Had the prints been a bit less bold, I would have gone with smaller navy strips, but the colors needed to be broken up a bit.

Sugarpumpkin 02-11-2010 09:26 AM

i like it choppy!

blahel 02-11-2010 03:45 PM

i love the fabrics!
