Dragon Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I bought the dragon fabric from Joann's. I fussy cut a 12 1/2" X 24 1/2" panel from the fabric. Then just kept adding borders until it reached the size I wanted. Backed it with black minkee.
Did not have a recipient in mind when making the top. But, as I was laying it out on the floor to sandwich the layers together, my youngest son walked by, stopped, said WOW! and that's for me, right? Makes you feel good when your kids like your quilts. |
Really nice job!

That is very sharp looking.

You did a great job. I love the colors and the dragon :) I can see why your son wants it.

Great quilt, and great son, a perfect match. Hopefully he will keep it forever. My husband has a quilt that his grandmother made him, a long time ago. One of the pieces of fabric is falling apart, so we have it put up. It seems like that one fabric was older than the rest she used in the quilt. I was picking up pieces every morning, until it got to be too much. I told my husband, if we didn't put it away, it would mess up the rest of the quilt.

Wonderful work!!!!

Great quilt!
My son wants a dragon quilt too. He's soon to be 47 but still likes dragons. Maybe I should watch for a panel or fabric similar to what you used. Or I may applique the dragon. I really need to start planning for it. Thanks for sharing your quilt. |
Thanks everyone!
Scakes - LOL - I need to show your post to my DH. I showed him the pictures last night and when he read my post, he cracked up laughing. He said, you make our son sound like he's 12 years old! My youngest son is almost 23. When he left for the college dorm as a teenager, I made him a couple of dragon pillowcases from some dragon fabric I found at Wal-Mart. He came back and said "Mom, can you make more? All my friends want one!" So I wound up making about a dozen pillowcases. If you want I can look at the selvage and get the fabric info. You could see if your local Joann's has it. This fabric is normally $12.99 a yard. I used a coupon when I bought it. |
very nice

That is gorgeous! And how could you say no.
|
Thank you for all the wonderful complements! It's hard to say no when you know it will be appreciated.
|
Goodness! If your son didn't want it, I am SURE my 25 year old son, or my 16 year old grandson would take it off your hands, lol. They seem to love the Asian themed stuff these days. Great quilt, very imaginative! Love it!

I found that same fabulous dragon fabric that you did. But I found it the two days AFTER cutting out all of the pieces for my son's first move out bed. Queen size for his new bed in his first apartment.
I am still thinking of a way to use some. I haven't shown him the fabric, because I can't figure what to use it in. Great quilt and beautiful work. Congrats. Oh, and tell your husband that our sons are always our babies. I still think of my son as an early teen, not the independent 26 yo he really is. |
The fabric is fantastic. Great response from your son.
