Dream Bigger
3 Attachment(s)
This is the Dream Bigger panel from Hoffman. The finished quilt measures 106" square. I quilted it free hand on my Innova longarm. I previously quilted one of the smaller 40" Dream Big panels as a wall hanging, then incorporated panels in at least four queen quilts. I enjoyed quilting all of those, but this one was a bear, and I don't plan to do another with the huge panel. It's shown on a queen bed, but it would fit better on a king.
The first picture is before I hand stitched the binding. Drake immediately parked himself on the quilt for a picture. |
Beautiful, wonderful quilting

they sell the huge ones? goodness, that is big. Love the quilt and love the doggie too!!

Your work is breathtaking! And I admire your tenacity. With most things I make, I wonder why I ever thought it was a good idea and dislike the finished product, seeing only the places where I could have done better. After a few months, I appreciate what I've done. You'll like yours even more after some time has passed. I think it's going to become a family heirloom!

Gorgeous quilting! Drake is the same color as your flooring!-lol

This is one amazing quilt! Well worth the effort. Nice work!

Gorgeous quilting
|
Just beautiful.
|
You did a beautiful job! I have done several of the small ones and have been tempted to do the big one, but think it may take too long. However long it took you, it was worth it!
|
Another stunning finish, you are incredibly talented!
|
Beautiful quilt and model!
|
Awesome!! Love the quilting.

Just gorgeous, but sooooo much quilting that I totally understand getting tired of doing such heavy quilting. It is stunning though, and I'm sure you are glad you persevered. Love your pooch too. Like you, I tried to get flooring to match the dog hair LOL, though I know yours doesn't shed like our Goldens.

A masterpiece, and I love that it falls to the floor.

Beautiful! Your quilting looks great.
I love these panels. I bought one of every color when they first came out. I think every quilt shop had them. I used two as backings and the rest as yardage. I never quilted the flower to stand alone like it was intended. |
Dunster, that's gorgeous! You do wonderful work. The quilting is fantastic!
|
gorgeous quilting!!

That is a beautiful quilt, quilting! And a beautiful dog, too!
|

So very gorgeous!

As usual, your work is fantastic, Dunster! I can imagine how difficult it must have been, but it turned out priceless. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.

I didn't know they made panels that big. Your quilting is stunning!

Dunster -- wow! You have quilted so amazingly on that panel. You make whole cloth quilting look so doable! Did it take you a while to figure out how you wanted to quilt it or were you used to the style because of the previous panels you had worked on? Did you do it all at once or was this a project that was off and on again? Thank you for sharing this beautuful quilt!
You need to show this at a quilt show to encourage even more people! Blue Ribbon quilter in the room! |

You need to show this at a quilt show to encourage even more people! Blue Ribbon quilter in the room! Before I started quilting this I basted the whole thing on the longarm, so that I could roll it back and forth and start quilting in the middle, working my way out. And then it sat there for a couple of months while I procrastinated and worked on other piecing projects. I knew from working on the smaller panels that I would double outline each petal and then start filling in with different motifs. What I didn't realize at first was that the petals on the big panel are not well defined, so I had to make my own decisions on how they should be formed. And the petals were so large that I felt I needed to subdivide most of them. Once I started quilting, I worked on it for an hour or two on most days, but I get bored and start making big mistakes if I stand at the longarm for too long a time. I didn't plan anything in advance, but I tried to avoid using the same motif too often in adjacent areas. |
