Don't know what colors to use in circle and sashing and then borders. Any suggestions? I used my scraps for the plates.

quiltsRfun 01-15-2011 07:02 PM

These look great! Is that the background fabric you'll use? How about a pale yellow for the center circle.

carolaug 01-15-2011 07:03 PM

Wow...looks great,,I agree Yellow would be very pretty!

gaby4v 01-15-2011 07:06 PM

Great job!!! I agree too on the light yellow.

wolph33 01-15-2011 07:07 PM

looks great use a bright sashing

franie 01-15-2011 07:09 PM

I would suggest red--but that's me. Gonna look great no matter what you choose.

mama's place 01-15-2011 07:11 PM

I say red also. It just makes everything look brighter and you have red in your d. plates.

Carol Carter 01-15-2011 07:26 PM

love it!!!

kimnkell 01-15-2011 07:33 PM

This is gorgeous! Can't wait to see it completed.

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 01-15-2011 07:33 PM

I would love to see red in the center circles. Would just give the plates a nice zing. Great job. Please post finished quilt.

I would say a solid medium yellow, medium pink, or Kona Black for your centers.

MommaDorian 01-15-2011 07:54 PM

I say red too!! They are beautiful!!

sueisallaboutquilts 01-15-2011 07:55 PM

You did a wonderful job on that! I go with red.
You don't need sashing unless you really want it. Anything would work for the borders.

Pat R 01-15-2011 08:05 PM

Ohhh red would make it realy pop!

cherylmae 01-15-2011 08:28 PM

I see one piece of red in each, so how about a red middle? By the way, I like your glasses

bdship 01-15-2011 08:32 PM

I would choose red for the center.

frugalfabrics 01-15-2011 09:01 PM

Bright Yellow or Red was my first choice too.

Somebunny 01-15-2011 09:07 PM

Oh my gosh, I hope I can make one that nice some day. Just beautiful!

I think the centers and corner posts should be red, but it must be several different reds. Maybe find a package of fat eighths, or quarters. Then some medium value print you just adore, for the sashings.

I agree, this sounds like a great idea! I'm trying to choose centers/background and maybe sashing for my Dresden WIP right now also. I really like the idea of several different reds instead of just one fabric.

joeyoz 01-16-2011 10:16 AM

Light yellow for centers, red or blue for sashing would be awesome.

PeggyT 01-16-2011 10:21 AM

My first thought was a red or blue as those are the two colors that jump out at me. However, the more I look at the, the more I think a soft yellow. That would bring out the other colors in the plates.

ddddd 01-16-2011 10:35 AM

that is gorgeous!

NauDeeGal 01-16-2011 10:47 AM

Love your dresdens. My thought is to have the centers white, the sashing black, and your cornerstones scrappy. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on.

amma 01-17-2011 12:14 PM

Beautiful blocks!! I think red would be pretty too :D:D:D

missionslady 01-17-2011 12:18 PM

On first glance, I thought Red. I think it will bring out the red you already have in it, and really make it pop. Love your fabric choices!

redpurselady 01-17-2011 01:24 PM

I like red :-)

gollytwo 01-17-2011 01:39 PM

GREAT JOB!
I'D USE A BRIGHT BUTTERCUP-LIKE YELLOW, NO SASHING, PROBABLY WOULDN'T DO A BORDER EITHER (THAT'S ME THOUGH, (I RARELY PUT A BORDER ON A QUILT - THEY USUALLY LOOK LIKE ATTEMPTS TO QUICKLY ENLARGE A TOP)
I'D BIND IN THE SAME FABRIC USED FOR CIRCLES. Whatever colour you choose.
Caps unintentional - didn't look up til well into message.

MaryAnna 01-17-2011 01:46 PM

Kona black gets my vote! Looks great!
Blessings,
MaryAnna

Renee110 01-17-2011 05:06 PM

I vote for red too. I love dresdens!

winter012 01-17-2011 05:09 PM

They look really cool!! Like the scrappy look!!

sewingsuz 02-19-2011 11:10 AM

Now I don't know whar color to use in the center. I planned on a medium blue sashing and thea narron borader of the cream that I put my plates on and that it Kona Cotton. Then I made the dresen 5 inch boarder out of scraps with the pieces oppisite direction. Shoul I follow thru and put the same blue in the center or Bright yellow or black? I am not going to have corner stones in the sashing.

sewingsuz 02-19-2011 11:11 AM

How in the world can you see my glasses?

sewingsuz 02-19-2011 11:12 AM

Yes this is the back ground in a kona cotton off white.
