Drunk Pineapple
1 Attachment(s)
This is a pineapple quilt made with yellow, green and white scraps. The straight line quilting is more than a little wonky, as pointed out by my husband....repeatedly:mad:. He asked my if I were drunk when I made it, hence, the name. It's going to my niece who will not mind the lack of skill that I have. I backed it with yellow flannel so it will feel good...even if it doesn't look good.

Hey, have him quilt the next one!!!! that should shut him up awhile. Cute quilt, I"m sure she will love it!

I love the pineapples! I rarely show my husband or family any quilts I finish or sewing on. I have come to not care about their opinions of fabric choices, pattern or size. It's really none of their business. They always have first choice of any quilt I make if they want it. They all have chosen a lot of quilts!
I like your pineapples! They made a cheerful quilt.
I like your pineapples and I’m sure your niece will love every stitch. My Mexican Star may have to be re-named too when I attempt to quilt it. I would like to keep all my straight lines straight but mine may end up being a Drunk Mexican Star and I don’t drink!-lol It will be loved and that’s all that matters.

That's such a cute pineapple quilt.
Tell that man to get his eyes checked. The quilting looks great, and the quilt is beautiful.
Great looking quilt! Yes, tell your husband to get his eyes checked!
Your pineapple quilt looks perfect. The quilting doesn't look curvy at all to me. And I haven't had a drink all day!!
I really like those pineapples! And the quilting is perfect.
It is great!
Great pineapple quilt! I don’t see any wonky lines and neither will your niece!
Nicely done. I love pineapple quilts, pillows, etc. This looks to be the same pattern I used a few years back, only I used a dark red for the background fabric. It really made the yellows and green's pop. Why can't we add photo's to quick replys??
Since he doesn't quilt he's hardly in a position to judge. I think it looks good and so will the person who gets it (if it's not you-HaHa). Cute quilt :-)
Love your pineapple quilt! A little wonky straight-line quilting makes it perfect. Great pattern and fabrics too. Nice work!
It's a cute and cheerful quilt.
I like it a lot!!
Love the pineapples AND the quilting! I think quilting imperfections add charm and yours has loads of personality! Love it.
Thank you everyone! I shouldn't be so sensitive, but sometimes it just hits me wrong. I think I learn something from my mistakes on every quilt. With that many mistakes, you'd think they'd be perfect by now!:) . But I'm already thinking about how I could have done that better and I will carry that on to the next quilt. Thank you all once again<3

If you don't mind my saying, your hubby is a poo-poo head. Lol. I think the quilt is lovely and charming.
One of the absolute sweetest things my son has ever said to me is that he LOVES the "mistakes" in the quilts I've made for him, then he backtracked and said it was incorrect to call them "mistakes". He said the bobbles, etc show that the quilt was handmade with love by his mama, and that's all he cares about. ❤️ |

Your niece will love it. It's so bright and happy! |
Oh this quilt looks great! I have a friend who calls her quilting designs...Organic. I love how your quilting lines look.

I love this quilt - great use of yellow scraps! I love the name too. When I quilted my NEVER AGAIN quilt (yes that is what I officially named it - it was a California king size geisha girl quilt made out of home decor fabrics that my sister wanted quilted in argyle diamonds that I too referred to as drunk diamonds-after the first row now of the rest were truly diamonds anymore. lol) so I got a chuckle out of the title of this quilt. It’s perfect by the way! It will be loved! It’s gorgeous.

Pineapples are a symbol of warmth and friendship. I love this quilt, and I'm not just saying that. It's calm, soothing, peaceful, and relaxing to look at, and I love that it is so simple in color. I happen to like imperfect things, because it reminds me to remember that we are all flawed. Pineapples are imperfect, nature is imperfect, life is imperfect.
And, I don't think you should name it Drunk Pineapple. I think you should call it Sweet Surprise or something positive. When you give it to her and when she uses it, it should be a reminder of you, not of the unfortunate comment your husband made. Feel good about the giving. And further to his comment, that's another reason why I never remarried, lol. |
My husband would never say anything to make me feel bad. He tells me the truth but without any let down on my part. One time I tried a new recipe. I was excited about it as it got rave reviews in the newspaper. After we ate and he did eat what he had on his plate, I asked him how he liked it. He said well it will be okay with me if you never want to cook it again. I agreed. LOL If he had said how bad it was and I wasted my time I would have felt disheartened.

As I work my way thru scraps this one would be good. Nice work😊
It’s lovely, I didn’t notice until you pointed it out. You should keep having a little tipple if you can make it look that nice 😆

This is an adorable pineapple quilt! Perfect for all those who want to hang on the beach drinking pina coladas! I think your quilting adds to the pineapple theme as the surfaces of pineapples are very irregular. I have an ear worm going now.... if you like pina coladas.....
