Drunkard Path

1 Attachment(s)
I just finished my first successful Drunkards Path quilt top. No puckers, not one!! It did not take near the time or efforts that my first one did and I am in love with this one. I am not sure if I want to add a border or not for now this quilt top is finished. I have several others that need quilting and I suppose I will do them all at one time. So here it is:

I vote bordering it. It is very pretty and a great job done piecing it.

How pretty! I love a drunkards path, especially in two colors. A border would be nice, I think, although the only one that my mother made didn't have a border....

Very pretty quilt. I your fabrics.

Love your quilt. That is one of my favorite layouts for that block.

It's a beauty! Congrats on conquering a tricky pattern.

Love your quilt...did you use AccuQuilt or what pattern did you use....I've had that quilt on my bucket list but not tried it yet...any advice?

Love It! I have been eyeballing Drunkard's Path patterns, and actually ordered a template. I think I will replicate your design--it's so cute. No idea how to add a border, though. Would I use a third coordinating fabric?

Very nice and your blocks are so precise. I think a border would frame up your beautiful work

Great Drunkard’s Path. I own a vintage one and it has no border. Yours is beautiful.

Beautiful quilt. Most times I prefer a border, not always for most of my donation quilts.

Great job Julia...what a wonderful challenge and no puckers. Congratulations! I vote borders too.

Great job on a Drunkard's Path. Love that pattern, as a little girl I had a quilt that was hot pink and white. The pink had faded into the white and I thought it was so clever like it had been painted in a fade wash.

I ordered that die for my Accuquilt today! I have always loved drunkard’s path blocks, but between my cutting and sewing issues, I never tried one. My piecing has improved over the years, but my cutting not so much so😳. Love my Accuquilt.

You will love the die! The notch for the center of each piece makes this block so easy to assemble. I know I will be making this block many times over. Was worth the investment for the die. I might even consider the other size too. Not now. I have others that I need to play with.

Well done! Your piecing is beautiful.

Drunkard’s Path quilts aren’t so much fun! You could make hundreds of these quilts without repeating a pattern. Pinterest abs Google will give you a good start. And they are really fun to make. I pin at the beginning of the curve, at the end of the curve, in the middle and between if needed. Yes, I’m a pinned but it saves me from using “certain” words😁😁😁

I love your Drunkard's Path. The colors work beautifully together. No border will make the quilt look very modern. I didn't really like the borderless quilts to begin with but find myself really appreciating them especially with the unique quilt layouts.

Great quilt!

Nicely done!

I am leaning in this direction too. This one will stand alone without a border. Now to choose the right binding. I am thinking a solid black. I just have to wait to get more black fabric. I have used every piece of black fabric I have for mask.

Congrats on your pretty top and on mastering a hard block to put together!

This is wonderful. Curves aren't as bad as everyone thinks. A bit of practice and a whole new world of creating opens up. Well done.

RedGarnet222 05-13-2020 04:44 PM

So nice! Love that you got it done with no puckers. That takes some practice. I also pin in the center and put the curved piece on the top.
