Drunkards Path

2 Attachment(s)
A lady brought a couple of quilt tops to our small quilting group that she had found while cleaning out a loved ones home. Since they were old she thought they should be hand quilted. We have a large stash and found what we thought would work well as a boarder for the quilt. This is the drunkards path, many of the pieces are from feed bags. Although she used scraps and the colors do not all blend well, she did a beautiful job in her workmanship. We are sure it will be a treasure.

that makes a fine quilt. thanks for sharing it. BTW, when a very old top was given to me, I asked a quilt evaluator how much difference it would make to the value if it were machine quilted. She said, "none, the quilting merely needed to be good quality.

Thank you for pointing this out. I too ask a certified quilt appraiser about a vintage top's value if it were to be machine quilted, hand quilted or left unquilted. She informed me that either machine or hand quilted would not impair the value as long as the quilting was done well. Leaving it unquilted would actually lower the value.

Oh my gosh, that is sooooo beautiful!!!

I like that pattern! im glad it was brought to you rather than toss it aside!

Caroline in Mo. 07-27-2013 12:59 PM

I love that pattern. When I was first married I lived in the country and a dear old lady lived across the road.I had no other neighbors and she would invite me over to watch a soap opera every day.She hand pieced all her tops, and this is the first one I ever saw her do.I was 18.She was 84.She was the first person to inspire me to quilt. That was over 40 years ago.I still miss that sweet old lady named "Nettie".

Cookie46 07-28-2013 01:49 AM
