Your grandaughter is going to be so happy with her duffel bag. It's stylish! Your placemats are nice too. The fabric containers are nice. Your friends are lucky. I really love the blue one with turtles. The lining fabric works so perfectly with the blue fabric. You nailed it!

Lynnie, I live in the bush and we can't just quick go into town to get something, so I was looking in my spare box where I keep all my zips....some date back to "donkeys years" ago - I even found one with the shop sticker of 39 c.....so imagine how long ago that was when zips used to cost "only" that much :) and I found this double one, had been taken off something and was wondering what it was..... Well it's the zip from a cooler bag I had taken it off when the bag was broken. So in the bush you find all sorts of "crazy" ideas to do things with what you have at hand!!! Happy quilting to you!!! :) <3

Great duffle bag and I love the fabrics you used in your fabric baskets. Your friends will love their gifts.

QuiltnLady1 08-04-2016 04:31 PM

Great projects!! I get your thriftiness. Growing up, we never got rid of anything with the buttons and zippers still on them. For the zippers, we measured them, the edges starched and ironed and stored flat waiting for the next project. Of course the clothes were generally thread bare by the time we got rid of them.

kaylfordsollimo 08-04-2016 08:54 PM

My guess is that she will love that bag and get lots of use out of it. Sleepovers, etc. Lovely extra gifts, too.

Linda, I didn't have a pattern, I searched through the internet, found several different ones and tried to figure out how to do it. It was a little bit of a problem with the circle, my calculations came to a 12" across which I cut out using a bucket ;) , pinned it on and found it was too large so I measured and marked 1/2" right around, cut it and it fitted!!! Hallelujah!!! :) I only thought afterwards that I could have made the side pockets a little higher.....well you live and you learn, so it'll be better next time  ohhh and the body is 35" x 20" in case you want to try. The straps are 120" long.
Have a lovely week-end!!!
Blessings Elfi
