What I learned on this quilt:
1.) that I shouldn't use lightish gray thread (as I automatically do) on a dark pieced quilt because after it is quilted, sometimes the thread shows.
2.) that I shouldn't just buy any type of backing fabric (bought from Hancock's (not the Paducah one) but it FADED terribly on the first washing and I should have not used it at that point),
3.) I also learned how important this design was to use 1/4 inch seams to make sure each block matched up perfectly with such a strong color combination.
Life is good when you learn something with every new quilt!

Nice quilt ... I like the design as well as your colours.
What would the pattern name be?

Yes, we learn as we go ... and need to remember the lessons.

I just finished binding a quilt .... my lesson learned?

Listen to my gut and ♥!!

When deciding on the outside border, my gut instinct was to go narrower. Yet both the LAQ and LQS said wider.
They're the pros ... and I followed their thoughts, being that they both went wider.

I really like the quilt, though I think I'd be even happier if I'd trusted my gut! Lesson Learned!! :)

(and yes, yes, pictures will be coming ... first I have another quilt to bind and I'll be posting them together.)

glad you learned. the quilt is still very pretty!

From a distance, like in the picture, those small seam issues aren't apparent. It is still beautiful. I doubt any quilt is perfect, especially in the eyes of the maker.

Nice design and beautiful colors! I learn something new with each quilt too.

I agree with the accurate 1/4" seams, I just finished a top with two shades of Tone on tone fabrics and a white background. The dark blue paired with the white just screams if the seams don't match. I know there a couple of spots that show where there are 3 are four hst that meet, but I finally just finished it. We all keep learning, but it isn't it wonderful to be finished.

This was an internet class through Quilt University - celtic design, where you design your own...however I went simple with the sample design provided. I am happy with it, especially that each quilt I do is something I wanted to try, and wanted to learn. I enjoy the Quilt University classes. Thank you for your feedback.
