When I saw the Boy Scout collection of fabric I knew I HAD to make one for my oldest DGS when he reached his Eagle Rank. This is how it turned out.

NorBanaquilts 07-12-2009 06:27 AM

Polly,
That's a great use of the boy scout fabric. I hope to make one for my nephew when he becomes a eagle scout. Thanks for the inspiration.

I keep thinking I will make my oldest one a quilt but its been 10 years since he reached the Eagle.

jacquemoe 07-12-2009 06:56 AM

Wow! Did you design this quilt yourself? What a great quilt that is and your grandson is quite the handsom young man. I'm sure he's very proud to have his quilt.

This makes me wish I had someone involved in scouts to make this type of quilt for. My little guy is going into 1st grade, so we'll see if he gets into scouting...a new reason to hope he does! Nice work on that quilt -it's fantastic. Your DGS will love it forever and ever!!

wow, what a great keeper. I'll bet he is thrilled, and you are proud! I'm the wife of an Eagle, and 4 of my 5 sons are Eagles! I love the scouting program. And you have done honor to it!

bearisgray 07-12-2009 08:55 AM

Nice - I really like the eagle that you made

Marcia 07-12-2009 11:15 AM

Polly-what a special keepsake you have made for your grandson. Did you applique the eagle or is it embroidered?

Congrats to Aaron on making his Eagle. My boys are Eagle Scouts too, so I know how much work is involved.

What a beautiful quilt! What a special memory to have in a special quilt. Gotta love those grandsons!

Tink's Mom 07-13-2009 01:48 PM

Polly, my nephew just made Eagle Scout in May and I used 2 of the Boy Scout fabrics to make him pillow cases and a special patchwork pillow with his name and 'from Tiger to Eagle' and the date of his induction.

The quilt makes my pillow cases look like nothing, but he loves them....

You did a terrific job!

fktsewing 07-15-2009 09:35 AM

Great Job!!!! Congradulations to the new Eagle Scout---he is among the honored now!!! My son got his 12 years ago and I am still proud of his accomplishments.

At a recent quilt show in Moses Lake, there was a fellow who had designed his Eagle quilt with all of his badges ... he explained how long it had taken him to make the quilt, since he had since gone on to become a scout leader so had a number of pins and badges to show that accomplishment ... save the badges ... and one day, oldest DS may have a way to display them ... a lifetime of service and a chance to share with others about the scouting program is a good thing!

Looks wonderful!!! My son didn't make it to Eagle, he just up and quit his Jr year of High School. My DD's almost boyfriend made Eagle and his mom made him a fantastic quilt a couple years ago. She said she wished that the Boy Scout Fabric had come out severl years earlier. Kenneth is now 26.

Robert Kauffman just came out with another boy scout collection. It is in the Hancock of Paducah catalog & your LQS may carry some. I have seen what I used several places since buying mine.

MollieSue 09-16-2009 06:23 AM

What a wonderful way to honor his achievement!!! You did a truly beautiful job on it!!! :D

CONGRATULATIONS, AARON :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

What a wonderful accomplishment. My son "made" Eagle Scout and I know from his experience how much work and commitment it takes. He is grown up now but being able to put Eagle Scout on his resumes has gotten him more than one job!

The quilt is beautiful and such a thoughtful momento that I know will be treasured for years to come!

kd124 09-16-2009 06:02 PM

What a great way to remember this event in his life. It is a beautiful quilt.

SharonC 09-16-2009 06:03 PM

What a beautiful quilt. Also, want to say a great big thanks for your DGS....nice young man working hard to accomplish this goal and make people proud!!!
