Early present for SIL

1 Attachment(s)
My SIL Jeannie, had a stroke before Christmas last year, that has left her with right side paralasis and some speech problems. Unfortunately she is in a nursing home and decided her bed needed more than the white blanket/spread that was there. She really liked it and was looking at the different fabrics. It is a MSQC pattern 4x4. Was a fun quilt to make.

That is very pretty. I am sure she loves it.

Darcyshannon 11-27-2018 11:35 PM

That is so cheery and much better than a plain white covering

Tartan 11-28-2018 03:08 AM

Well done!

QuiltnNan 11-28-2018 03:23 AM

nicely done, so cheerful for her

Beautiful! So much better than the plain white! I'm sure she's enjoying it! Here's a prayer going out for her and family.

I’m sure she will enjoy the added colors to her bedroom. My mother had a stroke a few years ago and regained some of her motion in her right side along with speech improvement. I hope your sister is continually getting physical therapy and will keep trying...

a lovely gift!

That should definitely keep your SIL's spirits up. It is bright and cheerful. I'd say it's the best gift ever.

Great quilt, it's beautiful, and a wonderful present

I like the colors you've chosen and the pattern looks interesting - thanks for the information about it. All the best to your SIL.

What a sweet quilt for your dear SIL.

Very pretty! I would suggest that you pick up the quilt and launder it yourself. A beautiful quilt I made my mother was stolen in the nursing home and broke both of our hearts.

sewbizgirl 11-28-2018 12:24 PM

That's a beautiful scrappy. She will have fun looking at all those fabrics!

My mother had the same results from a stroke when I was a little girl... speech problems and her whole left side paralyzed. But eventually she regained everything.

DJ 11-28-2018 12:49 PM

That's such a sweet thing to do for her. It's a beautiful quilt.

Prayers for a good recovery for her!

Jingle 11-28-2018 02:13 PM

Beautiful cover and she can look at all the colors.

Boston1954 11-28-2018 03:11 PM

She is going to love it. That was very sweet of you to make it for her.

I have to say that a lovely purple blanket I sent my SIL disappeared on the very day I sent it to her. My niece found it down the hall on another person's bed. She put it in her car and left it there so my SIL could use when she was being transported in the car. (note: my SIL's name, room, was on the blanket, but that did not keep in the correct room. I often wonder how many such gifts go home with someone else?

SusieQOH 11-29-2018 05:32 AM

What a wonderful way to cheer her up! I hope she has continued improvement.

luvstoquilt 11-29-2018 07:11 AM

Wishing your Sil continued improvement. I know she loves the beautiful quilt and you for making it for her. When my mom was in the nursing home I kept quilts on her bed and I decorated her door. She was aquilter and she thought she made them. It was so much fun because she. Thought she was really busy! I miss that crazy lady!

You made a lovely quilt that will brighten the room for your SIL. I hope she makes a good recovery. It has been a long haul for her.

How caring and thoughtful of you to spruce up her room. I know it's a tough situation being in a daily struggle to get better taking baby steps. She has a good support system and hopefully will continue to improve. Being in a care facility has got to be taxing for her as well. I'm sure she appreciates it.

Thanks for the compliments on the quilt and well wishes for my SIL. She has improved and pray it continues.

Most likely it was a resident that took it. Staff call it shopping because many of the residents can no longer think quite straight. On every visit to my mother I turned stuff into staff for reorientation. Mother had someone's teeth once and door decor seemed to be a favorite magpie item. Please give staff the benefit of doubt.

Plee1053 12-30-2018 09:25 PM

Very pretty! Prayers for your sis.

Plee1053 12-30-2018 09:30 PM

My aunt was a quilter. Both she and my uncle had to be put ina nursing home-dementia! Her daughter took 2 of her quilts to go on their beds and they went missing almost immediately! My cousin went to the nursing home everyday to check on them! No one seemed to know what happened to the quilts! Not all nursing home workers Are Honest! IJS

Lovely quilt and will always warm the heart of your SIL. I am sure she will feel loved and that is so important to someone in a nursing home.
