I made another one of my fat quarter lap blanket quilts. This one is jungle themed for a friend who loves jungle prints. I think it's gaudy but she'll love it. And that's all that matters.

While there's really not much piecing effort in it, these simple blankets are a good way to practice the basics.

I used 6 fat quarters, flannel backing and quilt binding. I think I'll try to make my own binding for the next quilt. Don't know why, but it really intimidates me! LOL

I did a simple 2" diamond quilting pattern.

Congrats on your "simple" fat quarter quilt. What a great quick way to make a quilt-especially cute for larger prints too!

Do not be intimidated by binding. It is so simple to make and apply. I am sure there is a great tutorial out there that will walk you through it the first time!!

Its just a biggining of something bigger...how about adding some triangles all way round.....(ok..just kidding  )

LOL

I have to finish quilting my ragged edge quilt, then I plan on doing a disappearing nine patch. :) I have to work my way up to triangles. LOL

Great beginning Rubia, when making binding look for directions that have full pictures of each step. It makes everything so much clearer. :)

Your doing good, binding is just folded fabric. it does not have to be bias. :D

Your quilt looks great! I love the big blocks my self.
I was intimadated by the binding step also and then I found a website with great instructions and video... and now (ok 2 quilts done) and I think it is easy. I bound a quilt that was waiting for almost 8 months for binding..

happy quilting.

That banana-print fabric is cool!

magpiefeather 11-27-2010 05:30 AM

I like this quilt! I have to make one with bandanas, not bananas!
