This is just lovely!! Thanks for posting - I have bookmarked this one to try…….another great jelly roll pattern!

citruscountyquilter 03-12-2014 03:26 AM

Beautiful. Hard to believe you made it in such a short time. It would take me that long just to preview fabric! You must have a long arm to do the quilting. Can't imagine doing that on a DSM. Thanks for sharing. I saw the pattern when it was posted but am more interested now that I've seen one made up. Will give it a try.

2manyhobbies 03-12-2014 03:55 AM

This is beautiful. I printed out the pattern. I've been looking for something that will look masculine enough for my dad, but not look out of place in their living room. Your color choices are fabulous.

Barbpr 03-12-2014 05:20 AM

Lovely, and I love the colors. What a dear friend you are. I hope all goes well with your friend.

The pattern said to pick 27 strips from the red jelly roll so I pulled 27 different fabrics in blues, tans, and browns for the body of the quilt. The rest of the jelly roll was used for the border. I wanted a masculine looking quilt. I used aged muslin by Marcus for my background. I have an accuquilt studio die cutter and decided to cut 4 each while I was cutting. The leftovers were put aside for another project. I repeated these same fabrics in the border. I chose to use only the browns and blues in the outside border as my inner border was tan. The pattern uses a 3/4" inner border (strips from the jelly roll cut in half) I made mine 2 inches finished as I was using yardage and thought their inner border was out of proportion. I had to do some seam adjustment in the outside border to make it fit.

I love your quilt! This is why I like seeing what people have made. I wouldn't of made it because I didn't care for the picture on the pattern but your's is sooooo pretty. I've been looking for a pattern for a jelly roll that's been sitting on top of my desk for a couple of months and this'll work perfectly. It definately doesn't look easy but after reading the instructions (repeatedly:)) I think I can handle it. Thanks again for posting the pic & enjoy your pretty, pretty quilt!!

quilterpurpledog 03-12-2014 07:00 AM

Very beautiful quilt for a special friend. I know she will be most appreciative every time she cuddles up under it. I have a new appreciation of jelly roll strips. We all need a quick go-to pattern whether for special friends or babies.

When I was reading your comments I hadn't scrolled enough to see your quilt. VERY impressive:) I really thought I was going to see a jelly roll race quilt (which I like...) but, wow...your quilt is very nice.... Will have to look up that pattern. So nice of you to do a quilt for your friend. Sending your friend prayers on a speedy recovery.
