A friend gave me a ton of christmas material. I made a few reg. table runners but with a binding it takes forever so I sewed a bunch of squares together once done took the two pieces right side together, place warm natural batting on top and then sewed all 4 sides leaving a small opening. I than turned the fabric inside out....and Wala...quilt...almost done...I than used stitch witch to close opening....Now for the fun part... machine quilting using my darning foot....with the feeddogs down. I have a blast!!!! Once done I then put on my reg sewing foot and sewed near the over edge all the way around. Looks great, easy and fun!!! Here is one I made. My Son took home the large runner. I will have to make another one. You can make these in half hour.

Great last-minute gift idea! Maybe I should whip up a couple for anyone I "forgot" who brings me a gift! :lol:

there is a new pattern floating around our town. maybe it has been on this board, missed it if it was.
cut 18" WOF one color 12" WOF for other color. you sew the long sides together so you have a tube. turn this RSO, press so there is an even edge on both side of the 18" fabric with the 12" fabric forming the inside strip. Trim ends even on each end. then(on each end) sew ends together to form a "V". turn, press, top-stitch all around. there is no batting. takes an hour for the first one, 15 min. for the rest. I have never posted pictures but probably should try because I'll bet this is clear as mud. if you have the strips in your hand, it is much clearer. it is reversible,but still need matching fabric (like both Christmas,both 4th of July, etc) because of the approx 1 1/4" fold along the edge. |

I saw those. But I wanted to use up smaller fabric, and scraps. I also wanted to use scrap batting so I could practice machine quilting with my darning foot.
