My 7 year old grandaughter, Emily, worked on crumb blocks last nite.
She wants to make a wall hanging when she gets enough made.

Izy your directions were real easy for her to follow. Thanks for doing them for us.

ALRIGHT EMILY!!!!!! Way to go!! Remember you are never to young to start building that secret stash we all talk about!!! Keep up the good work!

judy_68 05-11-2008 05:48 AM

I say we should all send Emily a piece of fabric to start her own stash for her. If you send me your address I'd love to send her something.

That's a great looking stash she has started!!

lin 05-11-2008 06:33 AM

She's adorable Pam and her quilt is going to be wonderful when she gets it all done. I love the horse fabric that she picked out! :) Isn't it great when we can get the little ones interested at such a young age? My dgd started at 7 too. She's 20 now and didn't continue, but it was sure fun while it lasted. :D

Way to go Emily!! You're off to a fabulous, fun start! (LOVE your stash  )

Does the fabric with the feet on it have the hands too? Cause I have the same fabric if it does. lol

PamH 05-11-2008 06:57 AM

Mary, the fabric with the feet is only feet, before we knew what her Mother was going to have on the second baby, i made her a quilt in pink and blue feet

mary705 05-11-2008 07:05 AM

I'm sure it was adorable. I had seen some FQ in turqoise with both the hands and feet, so I bought them up, cause they didn't have it in yardage.

Patty44 05-11-2008 07:54 AM

That sounds like fun,I would send her something,I see some horses in one of the blocks,I have some horse materail and dogs too.

Emily is so sweet. I love that she's taken an interest in quilting already. My daughter is going to turn 7 in June and I thought about trying to get her started sewing this summer. Any suggestions on how to start her out? And what exactly is a crumb block?

Izy made a real easy tutor of the crumb block, (I hope i posted that right) and I'm sure your daughter would find this block as much as Emily did. What day is her birthday in June? Emily will be 8 on June 21

collettakay 05-11-2008 05:43 PM

June 13th.

I missed the tutorial for the crumb block. My computer had to close the window for some reason, and when I came back to my email, the crumb block tutorial and file was gone. Could you please send me a link or help me find it..... Thanks for doing the tutorial. It means so much to me, being a new quilter, I would like to learn all that I can and everyone here is soooooooo helpful and friendly. Thanks , Nanny Hunt
