I'm building a cache of different sampler blocks. I've found that even though I may like a block, it just doesn't fit into what I want for a finished quilt. I now have 11 blocks made, with several that will wait for another time, but some I'm anxious to put into my current project. I've already shown a few of them, so I'll just show what I don't think I've posted yet. I started to make this quilt for my DIL's mother (who has turned into a great friend), but she is quite picky (Oh, such an understatement!) about EVERYTHING, and I don't think she'd be happy with my colors. So for the first time ever, I am making this quilt for me. Everything I make gets given away, so this is a first. I'm not sure any of the pictures do the color of the fabrics justice....

Love the first one. Great colors :)

Ducky, Are you making the blocks all the same size?

Debbie1 04-15-2009 06:32 PM

Your blocks are gorgeous!

Yes crkathleen, in this quilt, all my blocks are 12". I will "expand" to a larger size with my next quilt.

Lovely work ducky, love those colors and the way you've combined them. Yes, I agree you should make one just for yourself!

Those are so pretty. Someday they will grow up to be a quilt. Til then keep up the good work.

Those are so pretty!! I love them all--the patterns and the fabrics. Those batiks are really sweet!! I can't wait to see what you do with them!

Love those blocks! The middle one is my fave. Your sashing choice could be a way to bring them all together?!

I love your blocks and the fabric and colors are just awesome :!:
You know for a very picky person you could let them pick the pattern, the fabric, the colors and they still would not be "quite" happy with it in the end.
People like that miss out on so much in life.
I made lap quilts for my cousins, made 8 different patterns and colors for 6 cousins so they would all have a choice. 2 of them picked by color alone didn't even unfold the quilt to see what pattern it was or anything.
Guess my point is don't stress yourself out over making a quilt for the picky person.

Those are all really pretty

How fun to try out all the different blocks for a sampler quilt. You are doing a great job on them.

I have one planned for when I finish up my ufo's. It is a book by atkinson designs. But, it is fourth down the list. Ha ha ha ... There just isn't enough time in the day is there? But, I feel so good about finishing up those lurkers!

The batiks are my neighbor's favorite too. She has a huge collection going on.
