Every Good and Perfect Gift, #3
3 Attachment(s)
We started making our graduating high-school Seniors quilts to commemorate moving on to the next phase of their life. For 2012 our theme was “Every Good and Perfect Gift” the graduate being the good and perfect gift, not the quilt (grin).
The pattern for Amanda’s quilt, #3 in the 2012 graduation series, is the “Beach Quilt” pattern in Kaffe Fassett’s book ‘Quilts in Sweden’. Since Amanda is a dancer and is very active, I wanted both the fabrics and the pattern to have or suggest movement. The column is personalized with ballet slippers, year of graduation and high-school initials, church logo, and three squares to remind Amanda of her church family. That column was the culmination of some serious planning, fabric and color analysis, measuring, execution and teamwork. The collaboration is, for me, a big part of the fun! Thanks for looking! |

Your church group has started a wonderful tradition. With such a personalized quilt, each graduate is certain to treasure their church family and feel God's love as they try their wings in the world.

Have a Blessed day Ellen |
Another excellent quilt! I like the off-set strip. Again, lots of meaning to the symbols! You are truly a blessing to these young adults. I hope they stay true to their beliefs!

I am in a group from our church and we made quilts for our seniors last year. Ours are not as fancy as only 3 of us had ever made quilts before. But the seniors loved them and we are doing it again this year. Your quilts are wonderful and it's nice to have them personalized like that.

nice
she looks happy with her quilt |
I'm a long-time sewer who recently started getting into quilting ... As far as "fancy", I look for patterns that can be constructed using strips the width of the fabric ("Strip easy" by Christiane Meurier is my go-to for inspiration). Stripping really saves on time and IMO makes the quilt look more complicated than it actually is. And I get so much out of the making ...
