So nice you could finish it and the story behind it is nice too.

Bet you have a huge smile on your face. It has to be a nice feeling to finish this special quilt. Wish I could get motivated to finish a quilt I started in 1986. It is shades of peach and brown and was started as a quilt-as-you-go with HAND QUILTING. I have all twelve blocks completed and two quilted. Everytime I take it out and think about finishing it by machine, I hesitate and put it back. Don't know if I should take out the quilting on the two squares, or finish up the remainder with machine quilting and call it DONE. I have NO intention of finishing up with the hand quilting, even though what I did looks lovely. LOL Just call me lazy. As much as I love doing embroidery and smocking, I just can't get into hand quilting!

Good job and great history, thanks for sharing. I finished a quilt that my Mom gave me the blocks for when I was 15, after 35 years.. It was worth it, but should have waited until I had more quilting experience would have done a better job.

Totally agree.

The history of your beautiful quilt would make a wonderful narrative on the back as an embroidered piece to be handed down to your children and future generations.

I like the quilt but especially like the story. Save the story with the quilt for you are so right saying it tells lots about your life too. As you can guess I have been writing family stories for many years as well as being a quilter for an old unfinished quilt started me on the interests. Best of luck.

Very Very pretty .. I have 9 patch squares that a friend's mom (she was 85 when she died) started and I just found them after going through material yesterday. The start date was 1965, she died 2013. The material is old so maybe I will just reinforce it and make them for a frame, put them up on the wall and change them out.
My friend kept asking me if I ran across them, as she would like a couple of them so I said sure when I find them (I had 15 bags-55 gallon size- of material to go through!). SO maybe I will frame them for her .. and give her a few more ...
