Hi, Someone was asking about cheater's cloth. This is a quilt I made last year using Mimi Dietrich's line of cheater's cloth Baltimore Alblum fabric.

I always think about doing some cheater panels. Your quilt turned out beautiful.
|
My quilting teacher said they're not "cheater panels" -- they are "efficiency panels"  And your quilt is amazing. I've thought about doing one like this, and may have to add it to me Future UFOs list.

Very nice!

Nicest one I've ever seen...

I've done several cheater wall hangings. They have some pretty fabric out now days.

Me likey! It's pretty!

...that's pretty awesome. What exactly is cheaters cloth, though? It looks like the blocks were supposed to be applique, did it come already done in a kit and that's what makes it a cheater quilt?
|
That was defineatly handquilted. I don't machine quilt anything bigger than crib size.
|
very pretty. they used to look so cheat-ey

This is a beautiful quilt. Love how you put this together. |
What wonderful cheater fabric. I love it. Where did you get it.
|
It was in all of the LQS at least a year ago. There was actually a whole bolt of it at Sauder's Sale in Lancaster earlier this summer. I almost purchased it. I have some other yardage similar that was made by another fabric company. It tends to have more of a red green theme which was typical of the period. You might be able to get some of it if you go on line and look for the fabric line by Mimi Dietrich.

A quick internet search led me to this website:
http://www.honeybeefabrics.com/store...uct=mimiblocks http://www.honeybeefabrics.com/uploads/mimiblocks.jpg Looks like they've got the same "cheaters blocks" from the woman you were speaking of, and it looks like they've got like 50 yards left! Hope this helps :) |
Pretty, pretty!

oops, really like your quilt, msspeedy! I like applique blocks like this, but I won't be doing such tiny pieces, so this gives us a choice. Thanks for showing it, bc you still have to quilt it, it will still be a work of love for someone. :D |
