The quilt is beautiful, and you did a great job with the photo! Keep it up.

Thanks for the compliments, I am a self taught quilter, started in January of this year after a knee replacement at the age of 65. I found the batik print at walmart and fell in love with it. It was a queen size for my son and daughter in law. So far I have made 8 quilts. I am so hooked all I want to do is quilt, quilt, quilt. I piece on the machine and hand quilt. Good thing I live alone, if I had a pet or a husband they would probably starve to death!!!!!!

very pretty quilt. I can't believe that you have made 8 quilts since January. I did good to get a quilt top finished in 3 months. I'm ready to send it off to be quilted now. Keep up the great work and remember to post pics now that you can.

You are really making up for lost time! I have some of that same batik, not sure where it will end up yet. Sure is pretty against the red in your quilt.

Jane Sisk 07-16-2007 02:51 PM

Thank you for the compliment. I live along, no pets, am disabled so about all I do is quilt, quilt, quilt (and then quilt some more) I am so hooked that my head is just swirling with ideas for more quilts. Trouble is I am running out of kids and grandkids.''

Well if you are running out of kids and grandkids to make these for I'd be very happy to receive one of your quilts. Just let me know and I'll send you my snail mail address. Or if you prefer you could make some lap quilts and take them to a nursing home. I know that they would really appreciate them. :-)

 Wow 8 in such a short time, now I know I am programed for SLOW. I have been seriously (I thought) working on a large lap quilt this year and still haven't finished. Yes, I was interupted for a short while I finished another top I turned into a lap quilt for a grad gift. I guess though since I have pets and Dad to feed that does make a little difference. Thanks for sharing you lovely picture. Beautiful work. Wish we could have seen the others too! I guess you know there isn't a cure for the quilting bug, not that any of us would want to be any way. Right all.

Thank you for your kind words. I am disabled so don't get out much, live in an apartment so no yard work and not much house work or cooking for just me. I am a very early riser (4:00 am) so have to have quiet things to do until everyone else in the building is stirring. I am going to try and post some of the others when I get this picture thing all figured out. I thing getting the other one on was an accident, hasn't worked since. I keep a log on the computer of all my work so I can go back and look at it since they have all left the house as soon as the last stitch is in. If this works this is the first quilt I made, queen size for myself.

Thanks for the kind words. I love every minute from cutting to piecing and then the calming effect of sitting and quilting. I live alone and am disabled (age 65), I started in January of this year and have not stopped since nor do I intend to, so much fabric, so little time!!!

I always make my quilts whether they be twin, queen or king large enough to use as comfortors and make matching shams.

That is a very pretty quilt!!! I think I have some of that batik. That's one advantage of shopping at Walmart. When I have cleaned out my own store, I can call a girlfriend in another state to have her pick some up at her store and mail it to me!

sarah222 07-17-2007 10:56 AM

jane this is a very beautiful quilt. love your color choice.

Jane Sisk 07-17-2007 11:09 AM

Thanks for the compliment. I feel like such an amatuer when I see some of the quilts posted and see talk about taking classes. I just bought a packet of patterns at walmart, chose one and dove in head first.

Thanks for the compliment. Sure wish the walmart here would get some more in. I loved it and there are so many colors in it that you could just go wild with what you dol.

Thanks for the compliment. Makes me want to work (or play) even harder and learn some new patterns.

I just figured out how to put the little picture on the side of my posts. You will notice I said in another post that I don't have any pets. This is a picture of my constant companion for 7 years. My little Boston Terrier named Bug. I lost him t0 congestive heart failurelast November just before I had knee replacement surgery. He was my baby and I miss him terribly. Starting to quilt helped keep my mind off losing him, but I just know if he was here he would be laying across my feet as I sew on the machine or in the chair beside me as I quilt. I live in an apartmentthat has a 500.00 pet deposit so on a fixed disability income another pet is out of the question.

ceannastahr 07-17-2007 07:24 PM

I'm sorry to hear about Bug. As you said she'll always be at your feet as long as you remember her

Thanks for the kind words, we love them while we have them and then we remember them with joy. My son is an artist who paints animals on flagstone. He painted a picture of him that is so lifelike that he looks like he could just kiss you.
