Hi there, am a newbie from Tucson, Arizona, am going to try and post a picture of a quilt I just finished. Just an experiment to see if it works

yep , it works
I love the colors in this quilt you did a good job on it betty |
Thank you for the kind words. It ended up being an oversized queen so it could be used as a comforter and I made pillow shams to match. Found the batik print at wal mart sure wish I could find some more. I loved it so much. I bought all they had and on the last two blocks had to piece together some scrapes for the second round of batik but I made it with barely a thread to spare.

AWESOME colors. I love batiks too!
|
Did you hand quilt that!!!????
|
Beautiful colors! Beautiful quilt!!!

This quilt is beautiful. I love batiks also and these colors all flow so nicely with each other. Excellent job! :D

Thanks for all the good words. Yes I hand quilted it in the ditch. It was for my dil and she loved the batik pattern. I bought all that walmart had and the last two blocks had to piece together some to make the strips. I always piece mine on the machine and then hand quilt. I only have an inexpensive Brother machine and it really doesn't work to well for machine quiltng. Besides I love the peacefulness of sitting and hand quilting.
Have only been quilting about 8 months. Have made 8 quilts for myself, kids and grandkids. Jane Sisk |
Oh my gosh!!! I would never get any quilts done if I hand quilted!!! but I love the look of it.
|
8 quilts in 8 months... by hand???? Do you eat, sleep, or anything else... Ever???
My goodness!! That is a pretty quilt by the way. |
Thanks for the compliments. You would be surprised how fast it gos if you can stay with it. I don't have a lot of other things to do. Live in a small apartment, live alone, lost my pet last year, and am disabled. I just finished quilting a 110 x110 king size for son and dil. I ususally do only plain quilting, just stitch in theditch. Would like to get into more intricate patterns but most of mine so far have been strip quilting or log cabin quilts. they go pretty fast. I love the serenety of sitting and quilting andleting myh mind wander to the many blessings in my life. I am so happy that I was literally pushed into this by my dil when I had knee replacement surgery in November. She went out and bought all the stuff I needed and said "go to it mom" and i did and haven't stopped since. I love it. Have memories of my grannie cutting, hand piecing and then quilting. By the way I am 65 years old, 3 sons, grandchilren and 1 great grand child.. Thanks again Jane Sisk
