Exploding Star

I cut this quilt top out tonight and just finished the piecing. The fabric is Sandhill Plums by Kansas Troubles. I just need to put on two borders and quilt it. This is my 3rd quilt in 4 weeks and I still have 1 more to do before Christmas. Thanks for looking.

Love it. Did you notice the turned block on the bottom. Not to soon to fix it. Center rt point of star. Best of luck.

Beautiful, warm colors

Love it. It is scrappy yet there is a major design. The design looks modern yet very old fashioned. Wonderful

Actually, there is a story as to why this block is "turned wrong" in this pattern. This quilt is for my oldest sister (I have 8 sisters & 1 brother). One day my youngest sister was quilting a quilt for another sister and noticed a block was turned wrong. She decided to leave the block as it was since it was in the middle and it would require a lot of seam ripping. We later found out that it was our only brother that "turned" the block when she wasn't looking. So, long story short, whenever one of us girls is making a quilt for another one, we ask our brother to "turn a block" so it is in the quilt incorrectly! So, this will probably be a part of my family's twisted fun as long as my brother is still alive. LOL

Cut and pieced in one night? And had time for your brother to turn a block. Wow. Great work. Only brothers can really be jokers, can't they?

Great job, you are not only talented but obviously a most efficient quilter as well.

nstitches4u 12-04-2012 03:43 PM

Beautiful! You have been very productive! Three quilts in 4 weeks! I wish I just had time to quilt right now. I'm sure when the snow starts to fly and we are stuck in the house I will have more time to quilt.

Wonderful. Great colors too.

I noticed the pattern in a quilt shop in Pennsylvania (I didn't buy it though) and the name of it is Exploding Star. I just basically stored the layout in my brain and came home and made it. I used the 10" layer cakes to make it so there was very little cutting to do when squaring up the blocks. It literally took me 7 hours to piece the quilt (there are 64 blocks total - 8 blocks across & 8 blocks down). Truly is a very easy pattern to do.
