DH made me another extension that fits on the top drawer of the left cabinet.
The sewing cabinets I had built to extend the original sewing cabinet table top. Not thinking about the quilt hanging over the top and my constantly having to pull it up onto the sewing area, which was very hard on my left arm, he came up with this solution - it works really well.

These are the pictures of the extension for the sewing area and also the support post for the drawer. It is very easy for me to put up and take down as well.

This made my sewing and quilting a nicer experience.

Nice space and that's a really pretty quilt you're working on too!

It looks wonderful. It will help so much with FMQ. Some people put their ironing board to that level in that position to help out. This is so much better.

It looks great. Sometimes I have to have my husband come over and hold my larger quilts while I sew on the binding.
The quilts get pretty heavy by then.
