Fabric cut & waiting

Just finished cutting my pieces for the New Year's Day mystery quilt from Merry Mayhem. Haven't made any of her patterns before but the pieces are nice & big so thought I'd give it a go. Is anyone else doing it?

Love your focus fabric - the other fabrics coordinate perfectly.

Pretty Fabric!

Looks like fun! I love the birds. I thought about doing her Mystery...but I think I'm going to be buried by Bonnie Hunters!

Love the bird fabric. Love birds. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I'm doing it-- but I thought her instructions said to cut squares. You've cut triangles. Am I missing something? She did say to pencil draw a line diagonally on the lightest color squares... I cut out my squares for the twin size, and since she indicates she did the quilt sizes to allow for a border if wanted, I'll probably make a border after the reveal. If I like the pattern I might make another, but with fabric I like better. I chose some older fabric that I don't mind using for a charity quilt. If there will be large pieces (I'm guessing that too, else how can you sew it in only one day?) then I might not want to keep it. I don't usually sew with large pieces. :-) My darkest print is a crazy patch cheater print. I'm hoping that will give some interest!

I have done one before and was very pleased. I might join in also but I have not picked out my fabric yet.

I have always wanted to join in on New Year’s Day but like Kristi, I think I’ve got my hands full with BH’s mystery.

Where can I find this mystery????

Geri B 12-11-2017 04:54 AM

I found it doing a search.......merry mayhem mystery. But I thought I read only three fabs needed...hmm, but I did read one color in squares, the rest in triangles...I saved it, might d vide to try it...never did a mystery quilt before and yes, these pieces are much more friendly that tiny pieces..jmho

I'm skipping Bonnie Hunter's and doing this one. Can't wait to get started.

I am doing the twin size as well, because when I purchased my fabrics on vacation, I only bought one metre for fun.... now comes the fun :D I love the bird fabric but they may look like they've hit a tropical storm as I'm pretty sure some of them will end up being upside down or sideways.

If you recheck where the directions say to cut the squares, she also gives instructions on which ones to cut.

She does have photo albums of her quilts on the site but doesn't specify if any were mystery quilts, that I can tell. On her FB page I found pictures of the mystery quilts so if you are on FB I guess you could check some out there.
