I ordered this to make two baby quilts, one for my grandson and one for the lady across the street who just had a boy too. It is just darling and so what if there is pink in it!

I have a yard of each and I think that will be enough to make two small quilts. Just going to do a D9P with the character print squares in the 4 corners that don't get cut and mix up the colors.

I love the colors. I think it will make a cheerful quilt for a little one boy or girl. Can't wait to see them finished :D

gcathie 04-01-2009 07:50 PM

Oh that will be so pretty.....My Son loved florescent Orange when he was little.....:-)......D9p will be wonderful!...fast too...:-)

Rhonda 04-01-2009 09:22 PM

I love the color combinations That is really cute fabric for a baby quilt!
Waiting to see what you do with it :D

I work with a lot of dark fabrics so I have been tryign to get into brighter colors for a change. I really like the fabric you chose to go with the fun fabric.

pittsburgpam 04-01-2009 09:49 PM

I might have them done by the END of the weekend. I have all the pieces cut out for both quilts and the first one has the first and second squares sewed together on all the nine patch rows. I have some high quality muslin that I decided not to use for the backing on a queen sized so I'm ready to go.

I know what you mean about working with dark fabrics. The last 3 have been darker colors and I wanted something bright. I think the next one will be the Moda Aviary collection that is light pastels.

I should have this top done tonight. The orange is not QUITE as neon as it looks in the pictures but it is awfully bright. I thought it was more yellow when I ordered it online but, it still matches that color in the main fabric.

Jeannie 04-02-2009 07:03 AM

Love it!

littlehud 04-02-2009 07:37 AM

That is so cute. I still say the colors are wonderful.

Joan 04-02-2009 07:51 AM

Love it and so will the babies. Babies love bright colors, it will probably become their favorite thing to sleep with. Love the way you did the squares, just perfect. Please do not forget to post the pictures when you are done.
Did you have enough for both quilts?
Penny

Darlene 04-02-2009 01:34 PM

The quilts will be so cute and cheerful. I think babies like bright colors.

JoanneS 04-02-2009 03:57 PM

Great baby quilt fabric, Pam. I've been wondering - you don't look old enough in your avatar picture to have grandchildren!

Jeannie 04-02-2009 03:57 PM

I Agree!

pittsburgpam 04-02-2009 04:33 PM

Yes, I do like working with the bright colors for a change. I really do like the muted ones I usually pick but, a change is nice.

Yes, I have enough for two of them. All the pieces are cut out and I divided it all in half.

I have 3 grandchildren, a girl 9 and two boys, ages 1 1/2 and not even 2 months old. I started young, I was only 36 when my oldest daughter turned 18 and she's 27 now (so that makes me 45). I have a daughter that's 26 and a son 23.

I started young, too. But my daughter waited till she was 29 to have my first grandchild, and my son waited till he was 35 to get married! He now has boys ages 7 and 9, so he's paying big time for waiting so long! Fortunately, he loves his boys, and he has the patience of Job. We always knew he would be a great dad.

One of the tops is done. I messed around with the placement and thought I could do that for hours and not get anything done. So... I just did this.

I will do something else with the second one.

k3n 04-02-2009 11:48 PM

I like that placement - it reminds me of stacked baby blocks! Great!

pennyswings 04-03-2009 11:24 AM

I LOVE IT!! The placement is great the way you did it. Good choice.

Oh, that is so great.!! I'll have to go back to study your original placements so that I can figure out how you got the stacked effect. Love, love, love it. The orange is terrific.

thismomquilts 04-07-2009 07:47 AM

very nice

pittsburgpam 04-07-2009 08:31 AM

It was quick and easy... still have to do the other one. I was waiting for the batting I ordered to get here but, it won't be until tomorrow now (a lot longer than I thought it would take for delivery).

Anyhow, I want something softer and fluffier than the Warm & Natural so I will stop today if I can and get some for both quilts. I also want to do the back in flannel so it is nice and cuddly for baby.

Knot Sew 04-07-2009 09:50 AM

your placement is great! For me, I like placement that gives me a visual pattern I can follow smoothly. I also love a good splash of orange once in a while. beautiful pam! :D
