I live in the desert and experience frequent dust storms. I've found that keeping my fabric in zip lock bags or plastic storage bins helps. The bags are in baskets because they tend to slip around, but the storage bins (shoebox size) are stacked on shelves.

Great idea, looks great too!!!!!!!! No need at our house tho, I have my own sewing room. But, ggggrrrrrrr, we're going to reno it, so I have to pack everything up, and relocate temporarily to the tv room. Not looking forward to that. It's going to be a real mess, while your dining room will look nice and tidy, and what better way to look at your beautiful stash.
