Fading Footprints and Golden Anniversary Quilts - Entered at the Fair
2 Attachment(s)
Well, I bit the bullet. I've never entered the State Fair before but I've done it. I've entered my two quilts in the State Fair and I have to part with them tomorrow! I keep telling myself hyperventilating will NOT help anything. :)
So if you live the Columbus, Ohio area, I hope you get a chance to see them. I did enter them in the IQA Houston show, but they were not accepted. I didn't think they would be and I didn't have high expectations but the State Fair is probably a better start. Good luck to all those who are entering fairs or shows this year. Great entries and you will have to show us your ribbons!
Can't believe they weren't accepted. They are wonderful, even if they don't ribbon. Thanks for sharing
great quilts
very nice quilts!!!
I really like what you did. Best of luck in the judging. If I were the judge, .....but I'm not.
Beautiful quilts... is that your wedding picture? Wow, on that one!
The animals are beautiful and it seems like you showed some of those blocks as you were painting them. Your talents are amazing. Sure to 'ribbon' at the fair. |
You're very talented. I'm sure people will enjoy seeing these at the fair.
Good luck at the fair. They are wonderful. BrendaK

These are beautiful and unusual quilts. If I were a judge, I'd give them very high grades. Please let us know how they are received. (Heck, every state fair is a little different in what they value.)
Good luck. I cannot see why they were not accepted at the other Fair?????
Neat quilts! Hope you get some ribbons!
All the best, they are lovely quilts.
I started out at local shows and worked my way up to the State Fair. You have to realize the number of entries thru-out the US and they are only limited number of quilts they have room for.
Good luck.....they look wonderful to me!
It did take me a little while to figure out what "fading footprints" referred to.
Very nice artwork. |
Is the applique on the wedding/anniversary quilt affairs of the heart

It is not. This is my mom/dad married on June 18, 1966. I just gave this wall hanging to my parents for their 50th about 4 weeks ago. The portrait was done in colored pencils, then I painted the background with a brown ink, then I quilted it. The blocks are machine applique from Affair of the Heart quilt by Aie Rossman. Its seemed appropriate to use those as a border. |
Fading Footprints is a beautiful collection of animals and a timely reminder of what's happening in our world of progress and greed. The Anniversary quilt is beautifully made. Well done.
Beautiful, I want to see your ribbons as well, these are show stoppers!
Good luck to you on your entries. I will exhibit at our County fair again this year, have never at our State Fair. Our State Fair is in the Twin Cities and I don't drive in the Cities anymore so don't exhibit there. One thing I have heard from exhibitors at the State Fair is the judges critique your project and I like that as you could learn what you could have done better on your project; whereas, our local fair does not do that.

They are both beautiful. You've got talent! And your parents are a good-looking pair. Your mom's headpiece is so elegant. Your dad's expression appears that he has honeymoon on his mind:) .

Such works of art! Fading Footsteps is such an outstanding, original design. I hope Jack Hanna sees your quilt and purchases it to display at the zoo! We get to the fair every few years....was not on our calendar this year, but I would love to see your quilts in person! Congrats!
Oh My Goodness! This work is absolutely stunning. Sure to win a ribbon. 1st place in my opinion.

Nice quilts.
They both are fantastic. You are very talented. Good luck at the fair with them
A question: are they hand painted?
Both are beautifully done!! Please show us your ribbons after the show! :)
Beautiful quilts! I have only been to 3 state fairs and Columbus is one. I was on my home to Minneapolis after working the summer in NY, years ago. We will be waiting to hear how you did on them. They are special!
Love your two quilts!!
