I finally finished this up today.
I found the pattern in one of the recent Fons and Porter mags. It was pretty difficult (for me) :?: as it involved templates, partial seams. This pic doesn't really show all the fancy stitches  that I used but I have difficulty trying to post pics any way. I just can't seem to get them to resize. Kirsten |

Maybe I will try again...

Finally.... sorry about the goofy posts... K |
Very pretty and very cool table topper. That is the best table topper pattern yet.
Very pretty!
That is really pretty!!!! (And I hate doing those darn partial seams....)
Definatly worth the trouble ! Very Nice
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement.
Maybe if I can figure out how to get a web friendly size of photo I can post a couple of close ups. The directions for this were not clear as in, you cut out the pieces and then how do you place them together to get them correctly sewn. Also, the templates did that bias thingy...you know, everything stretches...so I had wonky pie pieces that I fudged together. Thanks again Kirsten |
Impressive! That is really pretty!
That's really pretty!

Nice job Kristen! It came out great. :D

I love the shape and fabric used. So glad you didn't get discouraged and not finish it - I would have!!!
You did a really great job on this one. I saw the pic...haven't attempted it though. Bet ya' learned some new techniques with this one. I love it!
I don't see any fudge?!? You had fudge and didn't want to share it with everyone? ;)
Love the crazy quilt star effect. The binding looks very time consuming with all those angles! Good job :-)
Great shape!!!! Nice finish!

You did an awsome job so pretty
Great job and the colors are wonderful.

The pattern was kind of skewy...
You made templates for all these irregular shapes and then had to sew together. There wasn't any arrows for grain direction to cut to minimize stretch. The binding is actually 1" rectangles that are sewn on at the last before putting it with backing and binding and then turning it right side out. Kinda like paper piecing...A to B to C, etc... It's done, I like it, It was a learning expericance. I may do again. Thanks again for all the helpful comments. I appreciate everyones feedback. Kirsten |
I think you did a grand job - "wonky pieces" or not! If you had not told, I would not have guessed it at all. Feel proud - I think you have earned the right.
I want to make this, but can't find it in my magazine. Can you tell me which one and the page. Thanks
WOW. Very nice.
