Yes I paid $19.00 for mine at Family dollar it is falling apart but I still love it and If you look closely it IS handmade. I still have it on my bed and some of the patches are coming apart. Didn't want to burst that bubble but thought you should know that for the future it was hers and it is still an Heirloom in my book!

So I'm digging out all these quilts and am just amazed. Some are simple - tied - and VERY heavy. I don't think you'd be able to turn over in bed under one of them. Those Oklahoma winters in a farm house probably needed such things. Then found the quilts my grandmother made for my son - 31 years ago - from good old double knit. The crib size is hand quilted on the border and tied in the center. Then the twin bed size of the same material and design is machine quilted on the border. I would have SWORN that this dear grandmother had never machine quilted anything! Live and learn!

Heavy??? I remember those cold winters, too. We didn't have any heat in the entire house except from a fireplace and the old wood stove in the kitchen. The heat from the fireplace went up the chimney instead of out into the room. We had the old feather beds, too. So with the feather beds and the heavy quilts we could hardly turn over, but you found a spot and got so warm you didn't want to turn over.
I remember sleeping with my grandmother and she snored so loud and I would punch her and say, "Granny, please don't snore". She would answer back, "I wasn't asleep". LOL |
They are all beautiful!
