Very cool picture. The 4 points look to me like the arms of a lone star, center is solid, background filled in. You could probably draft a pattern for it. Or, use the crossed canoes pattern, figuring out the angles for the diamonds for the arms (personally I'm not good with math like that - lol). It's actually pretty intricate. Very nice.

I need to know the name of this QUILT , This is my 3rd Great GrandFather and some of his Family . If any one knows the name of it and knows how to get the pattern , I'd really appreciate it. Thanks . Mary

I don't know the name of the pattern but great photo. Is the quilt still around? I love old family quilts. I am sure if you start searching quilting block sites on the internet you will be able to come up with the name.

Great photo - Haven't seen that quilt before but am confident someone on here will know what it is.

I was just looking at a book last night entitled "120 Patterns for Traditional Quilts" by Maggie Malone and remembered seeing something very similar, except the sides of the "cones" are not rounded, but then, maybe that's an optical illusion in the photo you posted. The one I have is called Rocky Road to Kansas, but it says it is known by many names. To quote the book, "Job's Tears, Job's Troubles, World Without End, Kaleidoscope, Crossed Canoes and Arkansas Traveler are only a few." I personally don't think they all fit what you're looking for but that's just my opinion.
I think the Crossed Canoes pattern is probably what you're looking for.

This quilt was probably made with templates, like most quilts of that era. You probably won't find a modern pattern for it because most of us don't like to work with templates, in this age of the rotary cutter. If you use one of the crossed canoes patterns and then work up your own templates to add in the diamonds in the canoes you can come up with the same pattern, or something very close to it. Do you know what colors were in the quilt? You might want to do some research to find out what fabrics were popular at the time if you want to re-create the quilt.
